The wait for pick-up was far too long, especially after a long flight. At first there was only one person at the desk for a long line of people.
The key to the car was manual (i.e., without a clicker to lock it), which was somewhat inconvenient.
At the drop-off at SFO, my wife fell, and the Budget attendants where extremely caring and helpful, and insisted that they drive us to the terminal.

i had problems with my reservation with budget. at the counter they wanted to see my israeli passport and drivers license. i had the passport but no knowing i might need my foreign license i did not bring it. they at first refused to honor my reservation as is including all insurances and told me to try somewhere else. finally the manager said if i could show a boarding pass or something showing i was outside the usa when i booked the car they would honor it. i did not have my boarding pass but fortunately i found something issued by israel as i passed through passport control that showed i left israel on dec 19. it was stressful and i had no idea i would need documentation as i booked the reservation in dollars in english and i also have a new york drivers license.

Excellent- helpful counter staff at check-in, and when the car I expected was not there this was sorted out very swiftly and I ended up with a different car, which was (to my eye) a better car all round anyway so no delay and a happy customer.
I misunderstood the cost of the advance toll fee coverage at the pick up desk, (the fee for which seems poor value to me) but I was able to delete it later by visiting a different local branch where it was sorted almost instantly. Although I could not effect this over the phone the lack of fuss otherwise over this did impress me and I will likely put Budget at the top of my list for a future hire.
Handing the car back was also disarmingly slick and efficient. Incidentally, I returned the car brim-full but nonetheless the fuel gauge showed 'almost-full', nobody quibbled so another brownie point for lack of drama there.
All told a better experience than I expected and I suspect that was not just good luck.

Picking up the car in San Francisco was quite convenient. It was already past 10 PM, so there weren't many people at the rental spot. When choosing a model, the staff member kept saying the KIA RIO was not suitable for us, but we insisted it would be fine. She kept saying no, and eventually let us go to the garage to check if the car could fit our luggage. After comparing, we found the KIA RIO could definitely fit two 24-inch suitcases and one 21-inch suitcase. We went back up to confirm with the staff, and she started preparing the contract. When we signed and left, I later checked the invoice and noticed the amount differed from what QEEQ quoted. But since we had already signed and left, there was nothing we could do. The invoice showed an additional charge for something like roadside insurance, adding an extra ten dollars or so. Luckily, it wasn’t a significant amount. If it were much more, it would have been problematic. I recommend everyone carefully verify the amount displayed on the computer screen. I plan to book again in a year, but I see prices have increased significantly.

We rented a 5-seater SUV in San Francisco. They asked if we wanted a 7-seater since there were only two of us, but we declined. However, the staff still gave us a 7-seater (probably because there were no 5-seaters left). I asked if there was any extra charge, and they said no. When we returned the car at LA Airport five days later, I found an extra charge of $59.75 on my receipt for the upgrade. They told me to contact San Francisco for any disputes. I called San Francisco and explained the situation; they promised a refund. I haven't received it yet, but I will continue to follow up.

At Budget in San Francisco, you need to take a shuttle train. The pickup process was quick, and the staff were friendly. You only need a driver’s license. The Ford EDGE I reserved was unavailable, so they offered me a choice between a JEEP Grand Cherokee and a Hyundai Santa Fe. I chose the Grand Cherokee without hesitation as it’s a high-end car in my home country.

Picking up a car from Budget at San Francisco Airport is very convenient. Follow the signs to take the Blue Line shuttle train to the rental car center, where you can see all the rental companies. When handling the rental paperwork, submit the driver's licenses and translation documents for all drivers, as well as a credit card for each driver. The rental cost was almost the same as what I booked on QEEQ. You just need to print out the order, sign it, and you’re good to go. The staff at the counter will give you a slip with the car’s parking location. Check the car for any issues and drive off. It’s much more convenient than renting a car in China.

When picking up the car, the store staff misled us about the car model. We had booked a mid-to-large model through the website, but the staff at the counter kept saying that mid-to-large models were not available and offered us cars like the Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Santana, which are smaller models. After insisting, the staff reluctantly told us to wait and, after further urging, begrudgingly found us a Ford mid-to-large model, claiming it was the only one available. When we went to pick up the Ford, we found multiple scratches on both the front and rear parts, and one of the windows was broken and couldn't close. Fortunately, a fellow Chinese staff member downstairs promptly helped us replace it with a relatively new Mazda 6. The attitude of the staff at the counter was really disappointing, especially since it was clear that there were other mid-to-large cars available!

Budget rental was really impressive! First, at pick-up: They initially didn't have the Tahoe model we booked, so they provided another SUV of the same class. When we saw a Tahoe in the garage, we asked the staff and they patiently helped us switch to the preferred model. During the rental period: Unfortunately, our car window was broken in San Francisco (no items were lost). We immediately contacted Budget customer service, and within 10 minutes they helped us with the registration and guided us on how to switch cars. That evening, we went to San Francisco airport and exchanged for another Tahoe. The process was quick and convenient. Since the insurance covered everything, there were no extra costs.

This company is really bad. We arrived at the airport at 9 o'clock and had clearly booked a Ford Escape, but we were offered a BMW X5. The representative was Chinese and we made it clear we didn’t need an X5. However, they still processed an order for the X5 after completing the booking, which would cost us an extra $600 per day. Luckily, we noticed the error and requested a change, but then they asked if we wanted a GPS. We declined, and by this time, we had already wasted an hour because she told us it would take a long time to modify the order. Then they offered an upgrade to a Ford Edge, which we also didn’t need, and asked if we wanted additional personal insurance, even though we had bought all necessary insurance when booking. By 11:30, two hours had passed. My friend and I realized they wouldn't let us pick up the car unless we bought something extra. We had no choice but to choose personal insurance. The car we ended up with was an old Jeep, not the Ford Escape we originally booked, and it consumed a lot of oil. This was a very unsatisfactory car rental experience, and I will not use Budget again.

I waited in line for over an hour to pick up the car, which is understandable during peak tourist season. When it was my turn, the staff informed me that the only available model was a Hyundai Santa Fe. I didn't want to drive a Korean car and told him so, but he said I had no other choice unless I paid more. The cars he recommended all required an additional $100 per day. I agreed to downgrade to a standard SUV and was okay with a five-seater, but they only had a Kia available (I've clearly stated I don't drive Korean cars!!). In the end, I chose a Cadillac XTS, which cost an extra $25 per day. I had booked a seven-seater SUV but ended up with a five-seater sedan, and I still had to pay more?

The staff had a bad attitude. When I pointed out that the car given to me was different from the one I reserved and requested the reserved car, the staff kept pushing me to pay for an upgrade. When I refused, their attitude became even worse. I contacted the rental company's customer service on-site, asking them to communicate with the staff over the phone, but the staff's attitude deteriorated further. The whole negotiation took about 90 minutes, and in the end, I only got the Hyundai given to me initially, not the reserved Ford or any of the other models listed as possible alternatives. I have booked directly through AVIS's website before and experienced similar issues, but they were resolved satisfactorily after negotiations. This was the worst rental experience out of my six times renting a car in the U.S.

Although the queue time was long, the service was excellent. When I lost the key, the staff stayed with me the whole time, providing assistance and transportation. They had someone tow the car back, but I later found the key, so they didn't charge a towing fee. The next day, they refunded my deposit in full. Budget's service in San Francisco is much better than in Los Angeles.

Picking up the car at San Francisco Airport was very convenient. We initially booked a Ford Transit, but Budget staff informed us that the rear seats couldn't be folded down to store luggage. So we switched to a seven-seater where one seatback can be folded down, and there was just enough space for our luggage. They mentioned that QEEQ provided a discount so there was no extra charge.

Arrived at 10 PM, not many people, fast queue.
I booked a 'Mid-size SUV' on Zuzuche, but the counter staff told me it was a standard SUV, not full size. The Zuzuche website couldn't switch to English, so I couldn’t argue with him. If the website showed the vehicle model correctly, it should have been full size. This was frustrating. If the website could switch to English, I could have argued my case. I was very dissatisfied with this.
Finally, he agreed to upgrade me to a Toyota Highlander for free, which was the type I booked in the first place, as if he was doing me a favor. I hope you can communicate better with rental companies so the reservation can show the exact model we are entitled to. This would make on-site communication easier.

My total rental cost was $771. At San Francisco Airport, the service staff gave me a bill for $1160, claiming it was for a vehicle upgrade. When I asked if it was the upgrade fee, they said it was a deposit. There were a lot of people in line, so I didn't check carefully. Later, I found out that there is no deposit for car rentals in the US.

I only inquired about whether insurance was needed and whether the car should be returned with a full tank, other than that they didn't bother me with unnecessary details, which was nice. As for the car model, the staff selects it for you (with company A, you can choose a car of the same specifications in the parking area yourself). If you have specific model requirements, you might want to ask when they confirm your order. I used to always go with company A because they had an automated pickup machine which saved dealing with staff. This time, I found out that the automated machine was shut down, and I had to wait in line to talk to the staff.

The AVIS staff saw the BUDGET queue and proactively assisted in processing orders (they actually belong to the same company). After inquiring if we needed the full tank return service, there was no further upselling. Their attitude was excellent. There was a wait for more than an hour at the rental center ..with only one staff attending for a majority of the time. The car was due for an oil change ..the next day after I had parked the car in my driveway it would not start at all ..the car battery totally died ..now how does that happen ..I got the key and locked the car ..shouldn't that have taken care of lights etc ..which btw I didn't even touch ( switch on or something ) and I checked after that the lights turned off after the car was locked ..also budget wanted to charge me like 100 bucks for a jump start request ..I got it done and also came to know the coolant level in the car was like super low ..That car had an issue and I was super inconvenienced for renting it ..only good thing was after several attempts to reach the local office of budget 30 min wait on multiple calls and informing them , they said theyvwould not charge me for the late delivery which. I was able to return the car around 1 hr late

This was the worst car rental experience I've ever had. The car was in poor condition and the company took advantage of my jet lag and urgency to reach my destination to make me sign additional insurance. According to other reviews, they also charge for cleaning fees, among other things. If you rent from this company, make sure to check that it is Budget—Budget, Budget, Budget! The final charge was 30% more than the rental fee. Even though I filled up the gas tank, they charged me for a partially filled tank. I was furious! When I complained, they asked me to provide a fuel receipt, but I hadn't thought to keep it. The bank transaction record wasn't sufficient for them. This is a scam, no exaggeration. I've rented cars many times in the U.S., and other companies never behaved like this one. Extra insurance, cleaning fees, incomplete fuel charges—they always find a way to charge you extra. I chose Budget because it had the lowest rate, and I regret it deeply. It was a complete rip-off. My advice: Be wary of Budget! When I returned the car, I noticed that few people rented from them, so the bad reputation is well-deserved. Be cautious, everyone!

Labor is expensive in the US. There's staff at the car rental registration, and the rental agency has many counters. You can handle the process as soon as you arrive. Booked a Toyota RAV4, but got a very new Hyundai Tucson with only 29,000 km! Quite satisfied.

I would still recommend renting, but the toll pass is a bit of a scam. However, it's a company policy, so just deal with it. The staff in San Francisco were very nice, but the African American employee at Ontario Airport in Los Angeles was not friendly. I personally felt that White or Hispanic staff were very friendly, while Asian and African American staff were not friendly to us.

The queue for picking up the car was a bit long due to many rental customers, but the process was smooth and they informed me of everything without any hard selling.

When we picked up the car in San Francisco, we waited in line for half an hour, and there was no self-service option, which is not as good as Alamo. The receptionist, who seemed to be Chinese, spoke English the entire time and was very polite with a constant smile, but we felt he was a bit deceitful. Despite having already purchased full coverage insurance from the rental website, he forced us to buy an additional $50 insurance without explaining it properly. He simply mentioned that if anything happens, we could call this number for assistance, and we agreed. He then presented us with a bill that was $52 more than our reservation. We almost fell for it. When I asked for clarification, he finally backed down. We even showed him our reservation which clearly stated in English that we already had all the necessary insurance and didn't need any extra coverage.
