I have rented cars abroad many times in Europe, but my experience with Europcar in London was exceptionally troublesome and disappointing. I strongly advise against choosing this company in London. From the very beginning, the car pickup staff try to sell insurance and make intimidating remarks, followed by complicated processes involving various fines, and ending with a series of email hassles related to returning the car. For such a large company, their London branch is full of pitfalls, fines, and inexplicable issues that will cause you significant trouble. The service and overall experience are extremely poor. Among all the car rental companies I have used many times, this one is by far the most frustrating and stressful. Renting a car is supposed to enhance convenience, especially when traveling abroad where there may already be language barriers, but this company will ensure you deal with endless issues during your trip. Choose wisely, and I strongly suggest avoiding this company in London.

We reserved a Mercedes A-Class automatic, but the store had no stock and replaced it with a BMW 1 Series manual, which we refused. They then upgraded us to a GLB, but there was a £300 upgrade fee. At pickup, they said the fee would be refunded when we returned the car. However, at drop-off, they denied it. The inspector claimed I had signed for it, and the salesperson avoided me the entire time. The store manager brushed me off, and they refused to check the surveillance footage. Extremely poor experience.

The car rental experience this time was perfect. Upon landing, it was very easy to locate T5. Right outside the exit was Avis's shuttle, which took only five minutes to reach the rental office. There was no insurance upselling; I opted for an additional trailer insurance at £5 per day because the countryside roads were extremely narrow. When a large truck approached from the opposite direction, I had to stop on the roadside in a hurry and accidentally scratched the tire. I’m not sure if I’ll be charged for it. Upon returning the car, the staff assured me not to worry since I had purchased comprehensive insurance back in China. The trip isn’t over yet, so I haven’t seen the final billing statement.

Overall service was satisfactory, but during pickup, the staff seemed to treat us differently. We had two families renting cars, and at first, they tried to push me to upgrade. When I refused, I ended up with a Series 1 car, which was very small and not the specified SUV model. However, my friend with the same reservation was upgraded to a Series 3 for free. The only apparent difference was that I was served by a South Asian staff member. Everything else was fine.

Couldn't get the car at all. Avoid Eurocar. It's actually operated by Eurocar, but they claimed the vehicle availability on the third-party system was incorrect. We checked their official website, and even though it showed cars available, it doesn't necessarily mean there are cars in reality. Totally ridiculous. Herz and Avis are much better.

Overall, the service provided by QEEQ was quite prompt and satisfactory. However, the service from the actual rental company, Europcar, was rather passive. They didn’t confirm any scratches during pickup, and during drop-off, they claimed the car had been scratched by us. Fortunately, we had recorded everything on video; otherwise, we would have had to pay for the damages.

We arrived at HERTZ earlier than the scheduled time, and the reserved car model was not available. The staff said they could only offer an electric car or a manual transmission car unless I paid double the order price for an upgrade. I declined and decided to wait. After waiting for nearly 2 hours, another experienced staff member managed to provide me with an SUV one size smaller than what I had reserved. I had booked a small SUV, which was supposed to fit three 24-inch suitcases in the trunk, but they gave me a compact SUV that barely fit two 24-inch suitcases. After placing the luggage, there was barely room for even a large bottle of water in the trunk. Having rented cars internationally five or six times, this was the only time a rental company downgraded my car model. The service at HERTZ Heathrow Airport branch was really disappointing. The car itself was in good condition, quite new, with only a few thousand miles on it.

After storing the luggage, there was hardly any space left—even a large bottle of mineral water couldn't fit. I've rented cars abroad five or six times before, and this was the only instance where the rental company downgraded the car model. The service at the HERTZ Heathrow Airport branch is genuinely poor. However, the vehicle itself was in good condition—very new with only a few thousand miles driven.

The staff's attitude was good and they were quite patient. However, there was an issue when making the payment during pickup. The store's POS machine malfunctioned and maxed out a credit card. I waited in line for 2 hours. This was my most frustrating car rental experience, completely tricked by the London Devila car rental company. I underestimated the speed of the London Underground and the airport express, and even worse, the efficiency of the rental company. There were only 2-3 people ahead of me, but by the time it was my turn, over 2 hours had passed. A man dressed in a suit and tie, looking different from the other staff, attended to me. He told me my reservation had expired, as bookings were only held for 1 hour. I had to make a new rental at a rate of £140, and he said I had no other choice because the original booking was non-refundable and there were no other rental companies nearby. They said they only had expensive automatic cars available. As I had no evidence to prove I arrived within the 1-hour window, I couldn't reinstate my original booking. Left with no choice, I negotiated and rented a car for 2 days at £82. While discussing the issue with the platform, the woman behind me said she had also arrived late and had booked an automatic car online, but she wasn't good at driving manual cars. After completing my paperwork, I saw she had already picked up her car. This indicates that there were indeed other automatic cars available. This rental experience made the reservation meaningless—not only did I not get the car I booked, but I was forced to rent on-site at double the price, feeling like I was being taken advantage of in a bad situation.

After returning the car, I emailed them to request a refund of the deposit, but they claimed that the £1950 payment was just a pre-authorization. They would not accept my Amex card so I needed to make a payment to my Visa card as the deposit they asked for was GBP 1,260 which is ridiculous for a mini car. You definitely get what you pay for - they are cheap for a reason. After queuing for 90 minutes in the office, every other customer had problems of some kind all to do with inflexible and unrealistic policies. After my 90 minutes in the queue, 25 minutes to process the transaction, I then had to queue for a further 25 minutes while the car was cleaned. All in all, I spent 2.5 hours to collect a car. Never again!

Booked the rental for 8 am pick up only to find the office was still closed. Found telephone number on internet as no telephone number, help or advice to be found at the rental cabin. Called interrent and was told in a very dismissive tone, I would just have to wait until the staff got their. Not a good first impression at all. When staff appeared (8:15) no apology or even acknowledgment that I had been waiting for the 8am collection. Was given an upgrade to a “Mitsubishi” which was actually a MG3. No complaint about the car or the value for money but the service leaves a lot to be desired.

Waited half an hour for the shuttle and then another 20 minutes to get to the car rental company. I presented all the required documents as per the platform's requirements and paid online in advance. Once there, I was told I couldn't pick up the car because I needed an international driving permit. I called customer service, and they said they would coordinate. An hour later, they called back and suggested I switch to another rental company like Enterprise. I had to take a shuttle back to the airport and then another to the new rental company. I arrived in London at 1:30 PM, and by the time I got back it was almost 4:00 PM. I had an appointment at 5:00 PM, so I had to cancel the rental. I called a taxi, which cost me 30 pounds to get back to the hotel. It's been over a week, and I still haven't received a refund. An 8+ rating is ridiculous; is this company using us as guinea pigs?

Picked it up on a Sunday and no one could fix it, and there were no other cars to switch to. We had to drive north on the highway with the windows down. Sigh… It's better to choose a big company! Booking through the domestic QEEQ website was very smooth. However, the company will try to sell you extra insurance when you pick up the car. You can choose based on your own needs. You can refuse it without any problem. I declined because I already purchased additional coverage on the QEEQ website. I returned the car at Heathrow Airport at 9:20 PM. The staff was very friendly and informed me that their shuttle bus runs at 9:30 PM and they would quickly process my return. Sure enough, they completed the car inspection and paperwork in about five minutes and then took the three of us to the departure terminal. Two days later, the £150 deposit was refunded to my credit card. Highly recommended.

We were 2 hours late when picking up the car, and they said the car had already been rented to someone else because we were late. We originally booked a 7-seater that could fit 4 pieces of luggage, but we got a smaller car. If we seated 7 people, there would be no space for luggage at all. The back seats can only accommodate children aged 3-5. The return location was very inconvenient. We had to drop off our luggage for check-in first and then return the car, which took about 1 hour and 20 minutes. We almost missed our flight. The GPS that we rented with the car was useless and led us the wrong way. We ended up using our own mobile phone for navigation.
