All vehicles not returned to the main compound will be charged a collection fee of GBP 50.00 plus parking charges. If you wish to take a UK registered vehicle into the Republic of Ireland, you are required by law to be in possession of: 1- a VE103B certificate which is proof Hertz has permitted the vehicle to travel outside of the United Kingdom and; 2- a Green Card which is a proof of insurance and must contain the vehicle registration. An advance notice of 12 working days is required for obtaining/issuing a Green Card. The VE103B certificate and the Green Card are not required for travelling to Northern Ireland. Charges for issuing a VE103B and a Green Card are as follows: Number of days into the Republic of Ireland - Standard Cover (including taxes)： 1~7 days - £ 171.99; 14 days - £ 209.90; 15~21 days - £ 226.51; 22~28 days - £ 301.73. The cover can only be purchased at time of pick-up. Should these restrictions be ignored, all insurance (Third Party Liability, CDW, TP, PI, Super Cover), if accepted, shall be null and void. The driver will be held fully responsible in case of accidents and will bear all consequences, including the cost of repatriation of the damaged vehicle.

Hertz is located a bit far, but there's a shuttle bus which helps. I came from Terminal 5, the queue was short in the morning, and I got the car quickly. The service was alright, but they recommended too many things. You need to say No to everything, especially when they emphasize that fuel prices are cheaper than the market. If you ask whether you can get a refund for any leftover fuel, they say no. I almost got fooled. It's hard to return the car with an empty tank precisely. Also, after getting the car, carefully check its condition. I found a few scratches that weren't noted in the inspection report, so you need to inform them yourself.

After about a 20-minute bus ride from the airport, you reach the counter which is manned by just two people, making the service very slow. They try to sell you extra fuel and insurance. The first invoice they gave me did not match my pre-order amount. When I asked, they said I had purchased a full tank of fuel, but I hadn't signed any agreement for that. I insisted on a correction, and they issued a new invoice that matched my pre-order. They also kept pushing for insurance, but I showed them the bottom line of the QEEQ booking form, which made them stop talking about it. Be cautious as foreigners might try to take advantage of you. Do not rush when renting a car; understand everything before signing. In the UK, they give you the keys and paperwork at the counter, and you go pick up the car yourself. Do not simply drive off after collecting the keys; instead, take a pen, inspect the car thoroughly, and mark any scratches or damages on the form. Pay special attention to the wheels because the narrow roads make them easy to scratch, and rental companies often charge for wheel damage. Take photos with your phone as proof and have the staff sign and acknowledge any pre-existing damage. When returning the car, do not just leave if they say it’s OK; ask for a receipt. In my case, I returned the car in Edinburgh, was told everything was fine, but later they charged me £85 for a scratched wheel. Thankfully, I had bought additional insurance from QEEQ.

At the London Heathrow Airport branch, I was received by a lady who informed me that I had reserved a hybrid car (which is more expensive). I told her that was not the case. After typing on her computer, she realized she had made a mistake due to a name match. She then asked how many kilometers I planned to drive, and I responded that I thought the rental was unlimited mileage. She mentioned that based on my mileage, they could offer a discount on fuel, but I insisted on returning the car with a full tank. She then printed the documents for me to sign. I requested to verify each item and noted that there was an additional charge for super insurance, which I had already purchased through QEEQ, and it was clearly stated on the reservation not to upsell insurance. I pointed this out to her, and after some more typing, she reprinted the documents and retrieved the original ones. After picking up the car, I noticed that the inspection form indicated the car ran on diesel, but it was an Audi A3. Doubtful, I asked a security guard who politely suggested I smell the fuel tank, which confirmed gasoline. He double-checked with a colleague and confirmed that the document was incorrect. This was my first time renting from HERTZ and I hope this was just a one-time mistake.

I rented a car for two weeks this time. It was my first time renting a car in the UK. Hertz was quite reliable. I originally wanted to rent a Juke, but since there were no cars available, they upgraded me to a Mercedes directly. Returning the car was super fast. I was supposed to return it on the morning of October 12th, but I was worried the return process would be complicated, so I returned it on the evening of the 11th instead. The return process was incredibly fast. Not sure if it was because I bought full insurance. I asked if there would be any additional penalties or fees, and they said no, all done. I hope there won't be any extra charges later. Overall, I'm quite satisfied.

Since my flight was delayed by almost 4 hours, after nearly 20 hours of travel, I was utterly exhausted. At the pickup point, my mind was not very clear, and since English is not my first language, the staff kept recommending a different car, saying it had more space, better condition, and the price difference was minimal. I agreed, but it turned out the total cost was almost double my original estimate. I had to insist on my original choice, and the staff was visibly unhappy. Whose fault is that? You wasted my time, and I haven't complained. Then, regarding my rental car, I was asked if I needed insurance. Didn't they see my order? Insurance is included. Seeing I had a child with me, they asked if I needed a baby seat. Of course, I did, as I had already reserved one when booking. Finally, when the pickup list was printed, I noticed an extra charge of over 100 pounds for the baby seat. I clarified that the baby seat was included in my booking. The staff didn't believe me until I showed the printed order, and reluctantly they removed the charge, keeping the final cost close to my booking price with no extra fees. As for the car, the website stated it could seat 7 people with space for 2 large and 2 small suitcases. However, upon picking up the car, we realized that if we wanted to seat 7 people, there would be no room for luggage. If we wanted to carry luggage, we could only use it as a 5-seater. We were a group of five, including elderly and children, so we wanted the comfort of a 7-seater. Instead, we had to make do. Maybe it was due to our lack of understanding of the car model?! In general, there were some other minor hiccups, and it took about an hour just to pick up the car and queue. Afterwards, everything went smoothly. The car was easy to drive, the interior was practical, and the space was ample. Returning the car was also very smooth, taking only 5 minutes. The only regret is that I forgot to take a picture with the car.

Extremely dissatisfied. This rental was a disaster because my lack of understanding of local UK regulations led to the vehicle being towed by local authorities. However, Rentacar company's response was slow. It took them 10 days to retrieve the vehicle from the authorities, causing significant inconvenience and incurring almost 1000 pounds in costs during my stay in the UK. When asked why it took Hertz 10 days to get the vehicle back, they never gave a direct answer, instead offering unconvincing excuses. In summary, very disappointed. Your company did not look after the customer's interest. Poor service.

Overall satisfied, especially with the patient explanation of various terms when picking up the car, and the good condition of the vehicle. I filled the tank before returning the car, but upon reaching the airport location, I noticed the fuel level was slightly below full. So, I went out again to top it up. Upon my second return, the staff did not inform me or give any hints and just printed a bill (I assume). I took it and went to the airport. At the airport, I discovered an additional charge of £7.62, presumably for the fuel shortage, apart from the usual rental fee and taxes. Calling them later, I found out their service time was over (after 18:00). I don't understand this practice, and maybe the staff was careless, but I am not satisfied with this outcome.

Huge scam!!!! They said there were no issues when I returned the car, but when I got back home, I received a damage fine, even though I had full insurance. What made me the most angry was the Hertz staff. In Edinburgh, we paid for parking but still got a fine. After returning the car, we went to the front desk to discuss how to handle it. Initially, the Hertz employee was very nice and asked us to send the ticket and our parking receipt to Hertz, promising they would handle it. But then, all of a sudden, they changed their tune and told us to pay the fine first, saying they would help us get a refund from the city council. They even made us pay the fine right there on the spot, despite us risking being late for our flight. After paying, the Hertz employee immediately became hostile and ignored us, serving other customers instead. It felt very intentional and extremely frustrating, like something out of a TV drama. When we got angry and demanded an explanation, they said it was not Hertz's responsibility and we should deal with it ourselves! Later, we realized it was a trick. By making us pay, they shifted the dispute to be between us and the Edinburgh government. To appeal the fine, we would need to provide the car owner's information, but we couldn't process it without that. Only Hertz could resolve this mistake, but to avoid hassle, they tricked us! Otherwise, they would have been charged, and we would have had to provide proof, making it a dispute between the car owner and Edinburgh's government. Sadly, when I was studying in the UK, I heard about how bad Hertz staff were, and many people preferred to choose Europcar even if it was more expensive. Now I've seen it for myself, what a terrible company. The service is extremely poor, whether picking up or returning the car! PS: We waited forty minutes for the Hertz shuttle at the airport!

The staff said they could only offer an electric car or a manual transmission car unless I paid double the order price for an upgrade. I declined and decided to wait. After waiting for nearly 2 hours, another experienced staff member managed to provide me with an SUV one size smaller than what I had reserved. I had booked a small SUV, which was supposed to fit three 24-inch suitcases in the trunk, but they gave me a compact SUV that barely fit two 24-inch suitcases. After placing the luggage, there was barely room for even a large bottle of water in the trunk. Having rented cars internationally five or six times, this was the only time a rental company downgraded my car model. The service at HERTZ Heathrow Airport branch was really disappointing. The car itself was in good condition, quite new, with only a few thousand miles on it.
