They give clear instructions proactively and response timely. Only thing is the finance part made me a bit concern that they didn't receive the funding from Qeeq in time and double charged me on additional driver fee and requested me to get refund back from Qeeq. This might be internal process between Yesaway and Qeeq to be improved. Too troublesome for me to work on the refund between the 2 companies.

Car was pretty old, with 160,000 miles on it. All four tyres were low and had to be pumped up. The paint on the hood and roof was mostly worn off. Mechanically it was fine. Car was advertised as a "6-person minivan" -- but it was far smaller than I had expected. I would call it a station wagon, not a minivan at all. I talked with BRC about exchanging it, and they were not interested. They only offered to have me pay 3x as much for a full-size van. They would not allow me to return the car early so I could rent from elsewhere.

The handling did not seem very appropriate. If you're not a local, you might find yourself in a difficult situation.

I went to so much trouble to ensure I book a Ford Mustang (which is celebrating its 60 year anniversary in 2024) as a surprise for my wife who happened to turn 60 on the 29th September 2024. Needless to say it was impossible to find another Ford Mustang an hour before I was to book out of our hotel so we trundled along in a RAV 4 which I would not drive if you paid me back in Australia. As you can imagine it was an absolute mood spoiler on what should have been a HUGE surprise. I understand that cars get damaged (which is what I was told) but to then offer an entry level RAV 4 as replacement is a slap in the face – I would have thought that the least your company could have done was to offer us a complimentary upgrade – what I would have expected of your company was to advise me upfront that the vehicle was not available, when it became evident – but I guess that is too much to expect given the volumes of customers you deal with.

The car was very dirty upon arrival, clearly not washed. Staff blamed it on the wind and sand, saying it might have gotten dirty after washing. Having just gotten off a ten-hour flight, we were too tired to fuss over it and drove the car that evening. On the third day of our road trip in Kaikoura, we noticed that both rear tires were worn out with no tread left. Even as a layperson, I knew they needed replacing. Communicating with the Chinese-owned rental company in Christchurch was fruitless; they kept denying any issues, claiming the car had passed NZTA inspections and was roadworthy. After failing to resolve it with them, I contacted the platform Zuzuche to intervene, but to no avail. As I had full insurance through Zuzuche, they suggested I replace the tires at a service shop and file an insurance claim later. Not wanting to disrupt our trip, I followed their advice. At the tire shop, the staff immediately said the tires needed replacing as they had no tread and one was even bulging. The shop manager warned us that driving further without replacing them could result in getting pulled over by the police. I explained the situation to the manager, who then called the rental company. They still denied any issues. Kudos to the friendly people in New Zealand; the manager took us straight to the police station. The officer inspected the vehicle and confirmed the tire problem, demanding the rental company replace the tires immediately or risk the car being impounded. The rental company quickly complied. Thanks to the rental company's reminder, we learned that raising issues is important—not challenging the rental company, but 'challenging' the New Zealand government, which ultimately made the rental company fix the problem.

When picking up the car, the staff gave us a training on local traffic regulations. For drivers who are not very familiar, a road test is required. We initially arrived late, and the preliminary training and test drive took too long. We waited over an hour to get the car. After many years of self-driving rentals abroad, we have never encountered such a strict rental company. The staff had extremely stringent requirements for the drivers. One driver, with decades of driving experience in China, made some minor errors due to unfamiliarity with the surroundings and different traffic rules. As a result, the staff deemed this driver unfit to drive unless we paid an additional 2000 SGD insurance fee. This exorbitant fee led to a dispute, and the staff even threatened not to rent the car to us. Since we were not familiar with the area, we had to compromise and negotiate with the rental platform after getting the car. Rent-a-Car's response was prompt, and after receiving my feedback, they contacted the rental company, and eventually, we only had to pay an additional 15 SGD per day for the insurance. While I do not deny the rental company's safety training processes, I believe their evaluation method is inappropriate. The local laws allow Chinese drivers to drive, and we had comprehensive insurance. We care about safety more than the rental company does. When educating us on local traffic regulations, the rental company should correct any driving mistakes and allow for more practice. After all, it's not that we can't drive; we are just unfamiliar with the local rules. Judging a driver's ability based on a five-minute test drive and attempting to charge exorbitant insurance fees is unacceptable.

Since it was early morning in China, we didn't bother contacting the rental company. However, both the pickup and return process were very convenient.

Service was terrible. When drop off the car, the service lady insisted there were scratches and asked for penalty. I wiped off the scratches as they were just dirt. That lady insisted there was a chip on the windshield and asked for penalty as well. I explained it was evidenced on check in and that was not caused by me. However I still received a letter claiming $120 repair fee for that tiny 10mm chip. The company is clearly cheating the money!

Car was old, dented body work, quite dirty, and very noisy to drive, not great suspension. We quickly realised why it was so much cheaper than the other care hire places. Staff friendly but clearly not enough of them and low staff morale. On our arrival they initially told us we'd have to wait two hours after the scheduled pick up time for our car to be ready. After a 36 hr plane journey from Europe with 3 small children this was completely unacceptable. We said so and they somehow rustled up a far in 20 minutes... Tank wasn't full but they were relaxed about it.

I was stoked with $117 for a "corolla or similar" for 4 days but of course that was too good to be true, I got a sluggish Hyundai Accent instead. Still good value I suppose. The staff were ok but didnt go out of their way at all. I wasnt explained the drop off location and had to leave cash for parking as I dropped it in the wrong spot and didnt have time to move it. I left my phone in the car and had to wait half a day for them to retrieve it and then arrange my own courier.

They did not have the car I requested, and tried to "upgrade"me to a larger car. Unfortunately, bigger does not always mean better when hiring cars to drive around an unfamiliar city. They then tried to give me a car that cost more per day. Eventually, they managed to "find" a car that was more suitable -- why it was not offered in the first place is a bit of a mystery.

Our flight information changed the morning we were leaving the USA for our trip, which was two days before we attempted to pick up the car. I called right cars, knowing there was a time difference and it was late at night in New Zealand, however I wanted to confirm the change in pickup time as soon as I found out the flight information changed. We were originally to land around 1pm, and it changed to land at 11pm. A man answered who said he was working from home, and I told him I wanted to make sure we could pick up when we landed even if it was at night outside of office hours. He confirmed, saying that he was going to be on shift at that time. When we landed, I called for the shuttle and the same man told me no one was there, that I was supposed to pick up the car at 11am THE NEXT DAY. I told him that I could not come back the next day, that I specifically checked with him that i could pick it up at night and he insisted that the pickup time was set for 11am. I told him to cancel the car, and went to an airport desk to rent a car that I could take straightaway. When I called to get a refund the next day, I was told I had to go through the booking company. I called and was told I was marked a no-show, so I could not get a refund. I called the owner of Right Cars and he said he would have to do some investigating, but I have heard nothing since.

The front desk only had one person working, so we couldn't exchange the car or cancel. This company is also far from the airport, and returning with luggage to find another rental company would take a lot of time. We thought it wasn't worth it, so we just accepted the old car.

To be honest, I'm very dissatisfied with this company. I booked a new Toyota Yaris, but upon pickup, I received an old Nissan Tiida from 10 years ago. The car was dirty and hadn't been cleaned, and there were numerous scratches. When I pointed these out and took photos, they said it didn't matter. I requested this be noted on the pickup form, but they told me not to rent if I didn't like it and questioned why I was inspecting the car so carefully. They said all their cars were in this condition. When I returned the car, they charged me almost 4000 RMB for a small two-centimeter paint chip on the rear of the car. I rented the car for 11 days for less than 2000 RMB. Charging nearly 4000 RMB for a scratch smaller than a fingernail? Are they crazy?

During pick-up, they only conducted a superficial inspection and told me that everything was recorded, and there should be no issues. Trusting them, I only checked for scratches on the surface. However, when returning the car, their inspection was very detailed, even feeling under the bumper and claimed it was scratched. It was frustrating, and I had to accept it. Please, everyone, be sure to carefully check under the front and rear bumpers during pick-up, especially in areas you can't see. Take photos for evidence! Otherwise, you won’t have any proof if something goes wrong! Take note! On this trip, a friend borrowed from another slightly larger company, and we had no such issues. Although it was a few hundred bucks more expensive, it was worry-free! Everything else was fine!

The car was delivered later than the scheduled time. We arranged to pick it up at 9 AM, but by 9:31 it still hadn't arrived. While driving, the car made a loud noise and couldn't be driven properly. They claimed it was sand in the brake pads. We drove on regular roads, not gravel, and requested a repair. They demanded a credit card for security and blamed us for the issue. When we reported this to the rental company, their staff insulted us, questioning our integrity. We didn't make up the problem; the car had an issue and the rental company should inspect it to determine responsibility. Instead, they asked for our credit card with unclear intentions. This almost ruined our plans. With such an attitude and service, who would dare to rent from them? Cars can have issues, but this approach and attitude are unacceptable.

The vehicle conditions from Bluekey are very poor. I rented a Toyota Corolla with over 90,000 kilometers on it. The wheel was damaged, the speakers were broken, the tailgate switch didn't work, and the right rear taillight was intermittently functioning. When I asked for a replacement vehicle, they said they had no other cars available. The deposit was charged directly to my credit card, not pre-authorized, and they have been making excuses for not returning the deposit even after one month. This company is run by Chinese owners. I recommend opting for an international company where you can get a replacement vehicle promptly if there are issues, without facing unavailability.

I suggest everyone think twice before considering Bluekey car rental at Auckland Airport. Here’s my experience: When picking up the car, the Chinese staff required a deposit of 2500 NZD. If there was any minor scratch when returning the car, the deposit would not be refunded because I did not purchase additional insurance. 2500 NZD (12500 RMB) seemed exorbitant, so I bought their insurance, which cost nearly 1000 RMB for 8 days. However, I later found out that my rental package already included insurance for minor scratches! Secondly, I feel this was more than a simple misunderstanding. When returning the car, an overseas staff member inspected it and said everything was fine. Then a Chinese staff member came out, looked around, and claimed there were a few scratches on the roof that required a compensation of 1000 NZD. After negotiation, they reduced it to 600 NZD (3000 RMB). I need to point out a few things about these scratches: 1. They were so minor that they didn't show up in the photos I took for evidence. 2. The additional insurance I bought didn’t cover the roof. 3. Charging 3000 RMB for scratches that don't show up in photos—isn't this a scam? 4. In hindsight, this company is quite sly. The car originally had more than 20 scratches (which they don’t repair), and you can't ensure you document all damages during pickup, but you'll be troubled at the return. In comparison, when I went back to Auckland, I rented a car from Discount. No deposit, no insurance, and everything was prepared in the car without any checks. The experience was vastly different. I have retained videos, photos, contracts, and other evidence of my experience with Bluekey. Feel free to consult if needed.

This is my third time renting a car abroad. The first two times I rented from Hertz and had almost no unpleasant experiences. This time, due to language and price reasons, I chose this Chinese-owned rental company, thinking the communication would be easier. However, it was quite disappointing. Firstly, the car I received was not the model I had booked online. It was very dirty and old. When I asked the delivery person, I found out the car had run over a hundred thousand kilometers and was a second-hand car. Additionally, there were numerous scratches on the car. We asked to have these recorded, but the delivery person said the rental company wouldn't be concerned about these small scratches. For safety, we took photos of the car with the delivery person in them to prove the condition at handover. This proved to be the right choice. Our 8-day self-driving trip went smoothly. When returning the car in a different city, we asked the rental company to confirm everything was fine with a signed document. However, after we took a flight to another destination, we received a message from the rental company saying there was a scratch on the underside of the front bumper and that we needed to compensate for it. We immediately responded saying the scratches were already there and noted in the contract. The rental company then replied, saying the scratch on the bottom was something we added ourselves. We were shocked and hadn't thought to inspect the bottom of the car. Fortunately, one of the photos we took showed a low-positioned scratch, proving it was there at the time of handover with the delivery person in the shot. This resolved the issue, but it was truly frightening! I'm writing this to remind anyone renting a car abroad to not trust verbal promises from rental companies. Always inspect the car carefully and take onsite photos as evidence. It's not a bias against Chinese companies, but the integrity was really poor. This was the worst car rental experience ever. Additionally, the car was very fuel-inefficient. To be fair, there were some positives. The rental company called us immediately after we landed and delivered the car to the airport promptly. Their service was quite good. After receiving the photos as evidence, they corrected their mistake and refunded the full deposit. Despite my intent to leave a negative review, I hope they can improve, as more and more Chinese people are renting and self-driving abroad.

So, make sure to confirm the acceptable credit card types before renting.
