Our flight was originally scheduled to arrive at 7 PM, but it was delayed by over an hour. By the time we got our luggage, it was nearly 7:30 PM. The car rental location was right outside the airport exit, sharing a counter with Hertz. The staff was very meticulous and enthusiastic. We had to take two highways and needed to prepay with the rental company. After completing the paperwork at the counter, we followed the signs and walked a few minutes to the parking lot to pick up the car. We got a small SUV, which locals drive frequently. The car was relatively new, with just over 30,000 kilometers on it, and it was very clean inside. Dollar offers great rental rates, and we will choose them again next time we visit New Zealand.

Great experience, very honest. I didn't inspect the car at pickup, and at return they found a crack in the glass. I was a bit nervous since I didn't buy extra insurance, but the staff who handled my rental quickly clarified that it was caused by the previous renter and assured me it wasn't my fault. This shows the company is very trustworthy. Kudos!

Very disappointed about all the hidden costs. Extra costs to reduce the amount held as bond on your credit card. Extra costs to sort tolls. Extra costs for after hours drop off. The staff at Ezi Car Rental were very friendly and the procedures were simple. We purchased the super comprehensive insurance from the QEEQ platform, and the rental company didn't try to sell us their own insurance. The vehicle was very new, even equipped with a heads-up display and adaptive cruise control. Adaptive cruise control is an amazing feature in New Zealand, almost equivalent to autopilot.

Switched to a Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the condition was average.
We had a half-day layover in Orlando and decided to explore the city. A taxi from the airport to downtown costs $100, so we decided to rent a car. With four people and lots of luggage, we booked a Mitsubishi Outlander. However, upon pickup, we were informed it was unavailable and were given a Ford Mustang Mach-E instead, with an additional $20 fee. This shouldn't have been charged to the customer, as it was the rental company's fault. The car was smaller, and we had to place some luggage in the front seat, which was quite frustrating. I didn't argue since it was just for half a day. (Switching to a Kia Carnival would have cost an additional $20)

The minivan was terrible in condition. We booked the pickup time in such a way that it gave us enough time to leave the airport and go to the rental car place and that pickup time happened to be "after hours" of Bargain Rental Cars and it was a different pickup location. But it so happened that our flight reached Auckland ahead of time. When we called the pickup location for the after hours office, they said to call BRC directly since it was technically not "after hours". When we called BRC, they asked us to call the "after hours location" since we had to pick up the car there only. There was some confusion which was frustrating for us and finally BRC agreed to come and pick us up from the Airport.

We randomly received ford focus. We expected too much but got disappointed. There was a prompting reminder that the car needed a maintenance. We felt it because even we were just 2 riding the car, it was difficult to drive. It felt like we have heavy luggages inside. The aircon is not working working not unless you turn the fan to level 4. This must have not been the case if they were maintaining their cars properly.

The car is old, a 2017 model, and there are many requirements when returning the car. The contract includes various fees, and the owner, who is Chinese, specifically targets Chinese customers. You need to provide the final gas receipt for return (strictly from within 5 kilometers of the airport, which is very expensive). I mentioned in advance that I would arrive around 5:30, but I was still told that even being one minute late would result in a $65 charge for airport drop-off. They didn’t inform me how much the highway tolls would be, and five days later, they charged me an additional $25 service fee. It's full of traps.

The process was very slow and the waiting time was long. We booked a Mazda 5, but they gave us an MG instead, which was extremely difficult to drive! I've never driven such a hard-to-handle car before. There was no response when pressing the accelerator the first time, and the second time it just shot forward. Luckily, the roads in Auckland are wide and easy to drive on. If we had to drive on mountain roads in Queenstown, it would be terrifying. Next time, I will insist on not changing the car.

After discussing with the company, they offered us a new hybrid Toyota RAV4 since there were no X-Trail cars available. It had only 13,000 kilometers on it and was in excellent condition, very fuel-efficient with an overall consumption of about 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers. The return process was very simple, just handed over the keys after parking, and they didn't even inspect the car. However, they sent me a final invoice and I had to pay a little extra, which was the first time I encountered this. Since the amount was small and they didn't charge for the additional driver, I didn't pursue it further.

The store's computer had issues on the day of pickup, making us wait for a long time. The Indian manager at the store seemed incompetent, claiming my newly updated driver's license was expired without even checking the translated copy. It's been half a month since I returned the car. There was a small scratch on the front bumper. Initially, they estimated the cost to be between 100 to 200 NZD and said it would be settled within 5 to 7 working days, after which the remaining deposit would be refunded. So far, I have no idea how much I have been charged, they haven't sent me an invoice, and my deposit of over 3000 NZD hasn't been returned!

The car exceeded my expectations. Very very good. The Alamo pickup counter guy was also pretty damn helpful. The only Major Issue I had was a lack of proper Exact directions on WhatsApp or Google Maps for the Pickup and Drop off location of the car parking spot (exact), as it was very difficult to carry our luggage here and there whilst picking up because we could not easily find the car due to some confusion. But great service in every other aspect. Wonderful. Keep it up! :-)

It's a small company. Although the pickup and drop-off location was supposed to be Auckland Airport, you actually have to go to a store about 3 kilometers away to get the car. There is no counter at the airport, and you need to call the store yourself upon arrival, which is very troublesome if you don't speak English. They don't open before 9:00 AM, so if you arrive at the airport before then, you need to take a taxi yourself. We spent a total of $28 on taxi fares for a round trip. Once there, you have to get the car keys yourself, and there are no staff on site to guide you through the car inspection. We didn't even know what type of gasoline to use at first. The car was very old, made a lot of noise when driving, and had an unusually high fuel consumption. We used 23 liters of fuel for just 170 kilometers! When we got the car, it wasn't fully fueled; it was almost empty. Returning the car required it to be at the same fuel level, which we had to estimate ourselves. The deposit was a surprising $2000, and they didn't specify when it would be refunded. Overall, the experience was very bad.

However, the office has moved to another place which we couldn’t reached there easily. TERRIBLE. The staff there is good but only one staff is not enough to serve all the customers at the same time. So, we spent some time in picking up the car and even drop off. The car condition is good. Nice!

Car didnt appear to have been cleaned, it had been previously damaged and marked and these had not been repaired. The boot did not operate correctly. GPS was not current, returning the vehicle would have been extremely difficult without our own phone and google maps.

Despite booking and prepaying months before we were given a very old car (HDS 863) in poor condition, the only one available. With one bald tyre, worn windscreen wipers and a loose front spoiler we consider it to have been unroadworthy. The air conditioning didn't work properly either. At least it didn't break down. We complained to Mint Rentals who agreed to top up the fuel tank at no cost to us as we had problems with the nearest pump. We were told this car was the best we could expect at peak season for a budget price but the cheaper car we had just hired in South Island was so much better.

I understand that renters need to keep the seats clean, but requiring us to clean the floor mats before returning the car is unreasonable. It's like being asked to wash the dishes after eating at a restaurant. The car rental company should be responsible for cleaning their vehicles.

!!!!!Poor service from hire car company. Car had old bottles and other customers paperwork (from May 2019) in it. Was supposed to be full to full but wasn't. Phone charger didn't work. Satnav was in Japanese (for japan) but couldn't be switched off so had a running Japanese dialogue. But worst was that the renter announced as we left that he would not be there on the day we drop it off, so we had to arrange our own taxi (at our expense) to the airport! It was not clear where to leave the key, I still haven't had confirmation that all was ok (despite leaving a note and emailing them) and not be able to confirm that our deposit would be refunded. We were supposed to be using the same company (spicy cars) when we come back to the north island but plan to cancel.... poor service.

A small car rental company, the receptionist was an Indian with a heavy accent, which made it hard to understand. This caused significant issues. Of course, part of it was my fault too. The issues were resolved quickly on-site, but post-trip handling was very slow. There was a discrepancy between the credit card bill and the actual amount charged (undercharged by a few dozen), leading to a long delay in my insurance claim.

Car had 151,000 miles on it. Too many dents/scratches/scrapes/stain to document. Radio didn't work well, needed new windshield wiper blades, it smelled very musty/damp. It didn't break down during our three week rental so that is good.

A tall lady at the rental company insisted that I pay for insurance, otherwise she would not hand over the car. I refused to buy it, explaining that I had rented a car for 15 days on the South Island without purchasing their proposed insurance. She brought another lady to persuade me, but I continued to emphasize that the contract allowed a pre-authorization of 5000 NZD on my credit card for any accident costs. They still refused to hand over the car. We were stuck for 3 hours. Finally, I called the domestic customer service of the rental company, and they negotiated to follow the contract. Then they asked me to pay 25 NZD for a gas canister. I pointed out that during my 15-day rental in Christchurch, this fee was not charged. Why is this fee not included in Auckland when it's the same rental company? They eventually removed the gas canister and gave me the car key. Their attitude was very poor. I want to know if the motorhome rental includes the gas canister or not and request a refund of 25 NZD. A special mention to the young man who attended to us during the car return process; he was enthusiastic, professional, and patient. If I had met him during the pickup, things wouldn't have been so troublesome.

The car was old and the return inspection was thorough. We were in a hurry to catch an early flight, and they mentioned a small chip on the windshield. We couldn't have done such a detailed inspection when we picked up the car. Later, they checked their records and found it was from before, which made us very pressed for time.

On the day of returning the car, we were in a rush to catch a flight. The owner said we had to return the car to another location and cover a $40 NZD fee. There was heavy traffic, and we arrived at their office at 8:45. The owner wasn't back yet and said they opened at 9. I was a bit frustrated, but eventually, the owner went out of his way to find a nearby repair shop's Indian worker who drove us to the airport. We managed to check in on time, and we were grateful for that.
