You can arrive of Bargain Rental Cars - Christchurch - Airport car rental by free shuttle bus.

Simply call us when you are ready for pick up on 0800 00 11 10 (you can call our toll free number from a pay phone if needed. Ask the airport staff for the nearest pay phone), 03 343 6943 or 021 247 0346 and proceed to the nearest collection area for pickup.  Domestic & International arrivals - Our pickup location is located downstairs on level 0. With the Air New Zealand check-in behind you, exit doors 1 or 2. Look out for our Hire Vehicle Transfer Shuttle and one of our friendly staff will collect you. The Drive to our Branch where your vehicle is located is approximately 5 minutes.

Drop-off Instructions

Drive your car to our Branch situated at 6 Sir Keith Park Place, Harewood, Christchurch 8051 which is 2.2kms from the Terminal. One of our friendly staff will check your vehicle in and ensure all paperwork and documentation is up to date. We will then take you to your departure terminal by our Hire Vehicle Transfer Shuttle. Please allow an extra sixty (60) minutes before your required check-in/reporting time of your fight so we can be sure of getting you to the Terminal in good time. If your flight is at 6am or before, we strongly suggest you use our out of hour’s service to ensure you make your flight. See the next section. Please ensure the fuel tank of the vehicle is full. If the vehicle is not filled with fuel there will be an additional $50.00 refueling charge in addition to the actual fuel cost. This cost will be on-charged to your credit card at the time of return. oThe nearest gas station is: o661 Russley Road, SH1, Christchurch, 8051 Other additional charges may apply if the vehicle is returned in an unreasonable condition. The car was just what we needed. We love having a hybrid for travelling, they work just as well as anything else. Plenty of room and so economical. The guy whom we dropped the car off to was a great guy who was really friendly ....just the person you need as your front person.

Car was pretty old, with 160,000 miles on it. All four tyres were low and had to be pumped up. The paint on the hood and roof was mostly worn off. Mechanically it was fine. Car was advertised as a "6-person minivan" -- but it was far smaller than I had expected. I would call it a station wagon, not a minivan at all. I talked with BRC about exchanging it, and they were not interested. They only offered to have me pay 3x as much for a full-size van. They would not allow me to return the car early so I could rent from elsewhere.

Overall, it was quite convenient and the condition of the car was good. I was quite satisfied with the entire process. When returning the car, I saw another domestic tourist who seemed to have had an accident. I overheard something about a lawyer, which made the situation seem unpleasant. The handling did not seem very appropriate. If you're not a local, you might find yourself in a difficult situation.
