Pick-up Instructions

The Mint Rentals - Auckland Airport car rental location is located out of the airport

You can arrive of Mint Rentals - Auckland Airport car rental by free shuttle bus.

After collecting your luggage, please call our office at freephone 0800 842424 or +64 9 930 8271 for our complimentary shuttle service. Exit the gate at Exit 8, cross the pedestrian crossing, and follow the "Car Rentals" and "Taxi, Rideshare & Shuttles" signs for about 5-7 minutes to Waiting Lane 5. Our shuttles, marked with our company name, arrive every 15-20 minutes. Remember to wave to the driver. You will take the free shuttle to our rental office to collect your rental car. Business hours (Mon - Sun, 8am-4:59pm): Contact us at 0800 842424 or +64 9 930 8271. After-hours (Mon - Sun, 5:00pm-7:59am): Contact Aeropark at 0800 237 672 or +64274144712. An out-of-hours service charge of NZD$45 applies. Please arrange after-hours pickups at least 24 hours before your arrival to ensure availability. Alternatively, you may choose to collect your rental car from our office next day during business hours.

Drop-off Instructions

Returning your rental car is straightforward. During business hours (Mon-Sun, 8am-4:59pm), please return the car to 1/9 Brigade Road, Mangere, Auckland. Arrive at least 4 hours before international flights and 2 hours for domestic flights. Ensure the fuel level matches the level at pickup to avoid a NZD$20 fee. Nearby petrol stations include Waitomo on Richard Pearce Drive and Mobil on Massey Road. Ensure the vehicle is clean and all personal items are removed. Hand over the keys to our staff, who will conduct a 5-minute check to ensure the vehicle's condition matches its state at pickup. Our free shuttle will transport you to the airport; allow 15-20 minutes for this journey. The last shuttle departs at 4:59pm. After-hours drop-offs (Mon-Sun, 5:00pm-7:59am) are managed by Aeropark at 0800 237 672 or +64274144712 and incur a NZD$45 service charge. Please arrange these services at least 24 hours in advance or at the time of booking. For any questions, contact us via phone or email.

Mint Rentals does not allow to bring the rental vehicle to ferry. You will drop off your car at one port and collect another after crossing to the other island. A minimum of 3 days consecutive rental required in each island (If the minimum length of rental requirement is not met, then the rental will be charged as two separate hires.).

Despite booking and prepaying months before we were given a very old car (HDS 863) in poor condition, the only one available. With one bald tyre, worn windscreen wipers and a loose front spoiler we consider it to have been unroadworthy. The air conditioning didn't work properly either. At least it didn't break down. We complained to Mint Rentals who agreed to top up the fuel tank at no cost to us as we had problems with the nearest pump. We were told this car was the best we could expect at peak season for a budget price but the cheaper car we had just hired in South Island was so much better.
