There is no service to speak of. The staff, who are Chinese, are clueless about everything. When the vehicle was damaged, they just wanted to collect money and knew nothing about after-sales service, shirking responsibility. It felt like dealing with an 80s state-owned enterprise, completely indifferent. After charging me 2000 NZD for car damage, they said they would provide an invoice and other evidence via email after the car was repaired. When I returned to my country, no one contacted me, which was almost a month and a half later. It was only resolved after I contacted the customer service of the car rental platform and provided evidence. This Chinese-owned car rental company headquartered in Christchurch has an appalling attitude, especially the female Chinese staff. I sincerely hope that all car rental customers avoid being fooled.

I booked a Toyota Prado, but the first car I received was a Ford Everest without the equipped snow chains. I initially wanted to add this service, but the counter staff said it was included, which means the car should have had them. When I realized they were not there, I called, but no one answered within half an hour, and it still wasn't 9 PM, their closing time. The next day, coming down from the snowy mountain, I noticed a strange brake noise, a fault on the dashboard, and the steering wheel pulling to one side. After contacting the store, they asked me to return for an inspection and replaced it with a Mitsubishi Pajero on the spot. Since the store was in the opposite direction of my accommodation, it took an extra hour and a half round trip, plus I waited half an hour for the inspection and car swap at the store. I hope you can compensate for the inconvenience to my trip, the potential safety risks, and the wasted two hours.

I recently rented a car with Arentals and received an upgrade to a Toyota Rav4, which was a nice surprise. The car was smooth and enjoyable to drive, and I didn’t experience any mechanical issues. There were a few noticeable scratches on the exterior, and the windshield wipers seemed like they needed a bit of maintenance, but otherwise, the car was in good shape. Unfortunately, my experience with the incident handling process was less positive. I reported a minor incident that I estimated should cost around $200 to resolve, yet Arentals blocked $2500 on my credit card. This felt excessive. Additionally, the claims process seems quite lengthy—they informed me it could take 2-3 weeks to complete, and they would only send me an invoice at the end. I think a faster, more transparent claims process would really enhance the customer experience. Overall, I enjoyed the car but was disappointed by the high hold and extended claim process

I booked a Mitsubishi ASX, but was given a Mitsubishi Outlander, it was a little bigger but comfortable the same. Pick up instructions was to call up for a free transfer to Ace Rentals about 1-2 km away from Queenstown airport terminal, the transfer was smooth. At pickup, the guy was clear to explain and checked all documents, but cautioned me about my liability excess is $5500, that got me worried even I bought AXA coverage through QEEQ. At returning the car, the lady was not helpful, I had a dent on the vehicle front passenger bumper cause by a big landscaping rock while reversing for parking, she seemed panicky and quickly made a report for me and charged me excess of $5755.08 on my card. She was not helpful to explain how is the process, more worried about the next customer picking up vehicle, when I ask for credit card slip, she said she do not have one for me, luckily I took a photo of Ace Rentals copy which I signed. Later then I realised on the accident report it said they charge me excess $4783, but then I paid on credit card $5575.08, still not sure why, hopefully could be resolved later when they obtain an assessment of cost of repair to bumper, after Christmas they say. When I ask for if they have a telephone contact which I could call from Singapore, she said another guy will call me. I kept calm , since I had to catch a flight, and trust QEEQ and AXA insurance would help clear things up.

The process was quite convenient. You just need to drop the key in the small house at the exit when returning the car. The road assistance is just a card with a contact number, costing 10 NZD/day, which I found useless and a waste of money. Because traveling to Milford Sound requires you to rent snow chains, you have no choice but to rent them for 12 NZD/day. If the store doesn't explicitly say you need to rent them, don't bother.

The insurance for the rental car seems almost mandatory. We might not have been very clear about this initially. When we got there, we said we didn't need insurance, but the rental company insisted that without it, we needed a credit card guarantee, and cash wasn't acceptable. This wasn't communicated to us beforehand during the rental process. I think your platform should explain this better. Since we didn't have a credit card, we were forced to buy the most expensive insurance (we could only buy the most expensive one? This feels like a forced sale), which was really frustrating.

I made two car rental reservations with mode during my visit to New Zealand. One was at Queenstown from 4/19 to 4/27 and the other was at Auckland from 4/27 to 4/30. I am not sure what’s mode’s standard SOP to check return car. When we picked up the car on 4/19 at Queenstown, we were told that as long as we return the car at 8:30am, they will send shuttle to take us to the airport immediately. We arrived at 8:20 but could only wait till customer service rep to open the door at 8:30 sharp. He took more than 20 photos of the car, then drive the car to the parking lot (when I thought he was doing a test drive.) Then he returned to the front door where we waited, said he would ask his colleague to take us to the airport. We waited a few more minutes, just to find him chatting with the guy at back door…. We almost missed the deadline to check in luggage if our flight to Auckland was not delayed. I must say the experience was extremely awful! On the other hand, when we returned the car at Auckland, the Service Rep didn’t take any single photo of the car!

Tianyicars Rental provides second-hand cars imported from Japan, which have already been driven for over 100,000 kilometers. The car's condition is poor, and the seats are heavily stained. Yet, they require renters to ensure the car is clean upon return and warn that a cleaning fee might be charged. The platform indicates that Zhima Credit can be used as a guarantee, but the car dealer still forces customers to provide a photo of their credit card. If the rental time is in the evening, they charge a late service fee of 50 NZD.

When returning the car, there was no one in the parking lot to check it. A staff member said someone would check it later, and then I had to rush to catch my flight. My credit card was later charged 35 NZD for a fuel difference. I had refueled the car before returning it and only drove a few kilometers. The rental company charges you without negotiation.

Although they offered a free ride to the airport to get it, I declined due to time constraints and chose a lower class car. We negotiated a 50NZD discount on the one-way rental fee. Unfortunately we had terrible experience with Jucy. It was the only car rental company available , as everything else was fully booked . The car we were given was in horrible condition , very hard to drive. They charged us over $600 for 3 days and most of our last day we spent on one spot unable to start the car. The service provided when your car breakdown was the worse we ever experienced . We we holding on line for 30 min. Then we were told to stay by our car that someone is going to call back.. an hour later still no one called .. so we kept trying to call all different people , even an Jucy shuttle driver , after 2 hours we finally got on hold someone and AAA repair service was organized. .. no one showed up for an hour. Luckily the car "magically" started again otherwise we would be still stuck there now. We drove it straight to the office because we we worried to stop , that it wouldnt start again. The worse thing is that they washed it and put it back for rent. I really feel sorry for who ever gets the same car.

This is a local, small car rental company. Due to the pandemic, some branches have closed, making it difficult for me to return the car at a different location (I wanted to return it early because of the lockdown, but I couldn't because I couldn't book a ferry between the islands and had to stay near the port for an extra week. I noticed that other larger rental chains allowed flexible returns at the port). If you need flexible return options, you should pay attention to this. But this is probably only an issue during the pandemic. Although the company is small, their service is quite personalized; you can contact their staff anytime. I drove the car for almost a month, and they were very understanding of my changing plans whenever I checked in with them, which felt quite warm. The extension fee was charged at the original daily rate, which was very transparent. The car was not a 2017-18 model Corolla; I believe it was a 2012-13 model. It didn't have USB charging or music playback, but it was still fairly reliable despite being older.

I've rented cars overseas for many years, and this was the worst experience, hands down! First, our flight landed at 7 PM, but no one answered the phone when we called the car rental company. We had to take a taxi, costing nearly 30 NZD. The car rental location was very hard to find, and the GPS directions were off. Fortunately, the taxi driver was helpful, and we eventually found it. We picked up the car keys ourselves from a box at the entrance.

Everything about the car was fine and collection was super easy, staff were very lovely but there were no staff anywhere in the office when I returned the car which lead to me missing my flight. I was calling the office to try get help finding the drop off location and then had to just wait for someone to return to leave the car and get the shuttle to the airport.

Asked for a large SUV which we received however, the car didn't have a working radio with Bluetooth (it had an aftermarket radio). Told them we had to switch vehicles as we weren't going to use a car with no working radio in 2019. The staff were accommodating and advised we could swap for a car that had radio the following day, although it wasn't a 4WD. Annoying to have to go through this process but the staff was friendly.

The Queenstown branch is small, but they have a wide range of vehicles. However, once you arrive at the store, they will strongly recommend insurance, which is quite expensive. It is much cheaper to buy it in your home country. Britz's cars are relatively old; mine had 190,000 kilometers on it. If possible, I recommend Maui, whose cars are two to three years old, while Britz's are over three years old. KEA's cars are only one year old.

The car was in good condition, and the Chinese customer service was excellent. They delivered the car to my place in Queenstown, which was very convenient. However, when I returned the car half an hour early and left it in the airport parking lot, we didn't meet in person. I had cleaned the car before returning it, but since I didn't have a vacuum cleaner, there were some sand and a few food crumbs (just a few pumpkin seeds) left inside. They charged me 100 NZD for this, which is really unacceptable!
