This company is terrible and has no limits to its greed. From the very first day of picking up the car, there were various issues. Initially, I stated that I did not need any additional insurance. However, when they gave me the contract to sign, they intentionally showed the last page in Italian (the contract was multi-page, with the first page in English). Only after I requested the English version did they switch it for me. In the English contract, I noticed an extra insurance charge of over 300 euros and questioned it. Shamelessly, they claimed this insurance could not be canceled, saying it was chosen when I initially booked (who are they fooling? I booked my insurance through a Chinese company, which has nothing to do with the car rental company, so this charge should not appear in their contract). After repeatedly asking for cancellation without success, I had to call the rental company, and only after a representative mediated were multiple service fees canceled (this is when I found out they also charged for multiple drivers and a full tank return fee, even though they only verified my information, yet still charged for multiple drivers). Finally, after signing, they did not immediately send me the pick-up contract via email, causing around an hour delay before they sent the pick-up confirmation email (which was needed to get the car). Returning the car was just as problematic. Despite no accidents or scratches, and even with photographic evidence of the car's condition at pick-up, they unfairly blamed a small scratch on the tire on me, refused to provide evidence or photos of the damage, and forcibly charged me 700 euros. Furthermore, they told us to leave after confirming the return, saying an email would follow, but then delayed the return confirmation, charging an extra day's rental fee, and shamelessly deducting a fuel service fee (even though I pointed out the full tank at return, with the inspector giving me a thumbs-up, they still charged me 30 euros for fuel. This is the first time I’ve encountered such shameless behavior. It seems like the car rental staff in Italy are all equally unscrupulous).

We waited for 90min after a 16h flight to receive our car. The car we booked wasnt available. Never mind, no guarantee for the booked class. The issue was the very long waiting time with not enough agents at the desk and IT systems that didnt work. Very tedious - have experienced way better in Italy even with the low cost rental companies. Our car got damaged and immediately after returning the car EUR 1400 was charged to my credit card. Without any information on the actual damage. I called the hotline, very rude and not helpful at all. In the end the guy just hang up the phone. Explained to me that the actual damage was below EUR 1000 after three weeks but refuse to return the outstanding monnies. BIG Mistake to book Budget.

1. The processing office is not located in the parking lot, and no one informed us. 2. The processing time took up to three hours! 3. We were told the reserved Mercedes A-Class or equivalent was unavailable, and only a Mini was available. We didn’t accept it, and they recommended a higher-class Hyundai SUV (forgot the model, a mid-size SUV), which was much more expensive (double the price). We repeatedly asked if there were other options, but ended up having to upgrade at a higher cost. Very poor experience! We booked well in advance and insisted to customer service that our requirements be met, but the outcome was disappointing! What’s the point of choosing a model upfront if this happens? In Vienna, our car was switched to a Volvo, which we could accept. A Mini is hard to drive and too small; it couldn't hold our luggage. Italian service is far worse than Vienna's! 4. Everything else went smoothly.

When I returned the car, I asked the staff to inspect it. They said it wasn't necessary, and then a month later, they claimed there was damage and I needed to pay 500 euros for repairs! Terrible car rental company!

Terrible. I've rented cars in Europe twice and it's always been extremely bad. Insurance details are not explained and they say it's free. When settling the bill, they charge an extra 3000 RMB. Be cautious in the future.

First time encountering such a bad company: 1. The order stated a 10:00 AM pickup time. We arrived at 9:00 AM, but they refused to process any paperwork. They didn't allow us to change the pick-up and drop-off times either. We had to wait until a few minutes past 10:00 AM for the staff to start the paperwork, and the actual pickup time was way beyond 10:00 AM. Never experienced this before. 2. The order specified a 4-door car, but they gave us a MINI 2-door car. No matter how we communicated, the company insisted that we booked a small car, and that's what they provided—no choice. Despite being just two people, the trunk was very small, barely fitting one suitcase, and the two-door configuration made it difficult to access the back seats. We had to rearrange our luggage every day. It ruined our 15-day trip. We're frequent customers of the rental service and understand that the car model might not match exactly, but the minimum requirements are always met. All other companies have offered alternatives when the specific model wasn't available, but not this one. They didn't care if it didn't meet the minimum requirements. 3. The order showed the return hours as 08:30-12:30 and 14:00-18:00. We returned the car a day early, but couldn't reach the company by phone. They were closed when we arrived before 5:00 PM. After contacting the rental company’s US headquarters, we were told the company was closed on Sundays but had a self-return option. After a lot of hassle, we found that self-return was impossible; there was nowhere to leave the keys or the car. We ended up staying an extra day locally to return the car the next day. There's a significant information disclosure issue—Sunday closure should be clearly stated.

“Frustrating and upsetting from Budget”

The counter staff was really pushy about us buying their extra insurance, when we refused she got nasty about it. There was damage recorded on the car at pickup however when we returned it Budget tried to claim we did it and get us to pay for the damage. It took 2 weeks to get it resolved. we were on a cruise and communication was hard. we have since read reviews online and see this kind of treatment common from Budget in the Rome Airport. It is a shame that this location gives Budget a bad reputation as we have rented from Budget numerous times and never had any problems.
