The insurance for the rental car seems almost mandatory. We might not have been very clear about this initially. When we got there, we said we didn't need insurance, but the rental company insisted that without it, we needed a credit card guarantee, and cash wasn't acceptable. This wasn't communicated to us beforehand during the rental process. I think your platform should explain this better. Since we didn't have a credit card, we were forced to buy the most expensive insurance (we could only buy the most expensive one? This feels like a forced sale), which was really frustrating.
The car was overall ok, had some external body defects and some tape pasted on bumpers.
The child seat was not provided at the pick up by Snap even though it was booked initially in the booking. Snap then gave a child seat which was very dirty and in very bad condition.
They are okay.
A bit passive aggressive. Insurance issue wasnt entirely their fault but this should be clearly communicated to the customer.
Got told there was a disclaimer in their PDS. Ask them to show me and took them 15 minutes to find. So if it takes them that long to locate the fine print. Image how long for your average customer?
The pickup point is 5 minutes away from the airport. We had to call three times and wait for 45 minutes before getting picked up! Meanwhile, other rental companies' cars came and went three or four times! The vehicle was very old, with over 130,000 kilometers on it. They also did not provide a phone mount.
Nice and friendly staff at Snap offices but out of hours pickup staff was very unhelpful. Unfortunately, no car seat was provided despite ringing to confirm the day before - a real pain when you arrive at 10pm. Drop off location in Queenstown was not updated either so chasing our tails before getting to the airport was also frustrating. Impossible to reach them on the phone without having to wait minimum 30 min. Probably wouldn't use them again.
About QEEQ:8.0/10
Total amount to be paid at the counter was higher than advised by Qeeq when booking.
On the day of arrival, we couldn't get ferry tickets. They helped us modify the rental service, so we rented the same model from SNAP on both North and South Islands, as we were already familiar with it.
The listed phone number was automated, and no one answered. It took us an hour and a half with all our luggage. I had to walk against traffic on the road to pick up the car and then drive back to get my family. We faced extreme difficulties right after landing. The platform did not verify the rental company’s contact number, which is a serious negligence. I demand compensation. When I contacted the platform for the rental company's contact, they told me to add a 9 in front. I'm completely speechless!
“Good car, good value for money but average service of the car provider.”
About SNAP:7.0/10
As I stated above, the car given to us was smaller than what we booked. The counter staff members were not accommodative to our request for a slightly bigger car as we had more baggage, which was supposed to fit well in the car we had booked. Also, we had to pay a speeding fine of NZD 30 through SNAP that charged us NZD 50 as administrative charge, which was a rip off! The staff at the counter was not particularly friendly and took longer time to attend to me particularly when I returned the car.
About QEEQ:10.0/10
Qeeq is a good platform that I use often. You need to evaluate your car rental partners more carefully, based on the customer feedback. My earlier experience in San Francisco was particularly bad and here again in New Zealand, the experience was SNAP was only average. Also, when most car service providers had offices within the Christchurch airport, SNAP had their office away from the airport. This required making a call to them on arrival at Christchurch airport for a pick up service, which means we had to wait for their pick up vehicle to arrive. This was time wasting and not convenient when you have more luggage with you.
SNAP were great. We phoned them from the airport and they were there within minutes to pick us up and take us to collect our vehicle. Staff were very friendly and the service was fast.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
