The store is good, no upselling. The RV's water drainage got blocked on the way, but it was resolved promptly. From reporting to Mighty to the issue being fixed, it took about 3-4 hours. During that time, normal activities were still possible, and the actual fix only took 1 hour.
Not far from Auckland Airport, drove a Toyota there, lots of RV companies clustered together. The one I booked online looked terrible in person! Someone even said it looked like a scrap car! After much consideration, I decided to upgrade the model and ended up paying 1.5 times more, totaling around 25,000 RMB for 13 days. The car was from Maui company, with 30 NZD daily insurance. It's a 4-berth Mercedes, and while it didn't have a backup camera, couldn't they at least install a reverse sensor costing only a few hundred bucks?
Firstly, the address given on the car rental form from Zuzuche was incorrect. The store had moved 2 kilometers away, causing our group of 4 to waste over 200 yuan on a taxi fare. Secondly, the store required us to buy full insurance on-site; otherwise, we couldn't pick up the car (the staff said unless we paid a deposit of 5000 NZD, about 23000 RMB). This was different from what Zuzuche stated, and I had to proceed after contacting Zuzuche's New Zealand customer service. Thirdly, the car model was old (had 210,000 kilometers), but there were no major issues.
The Queenstown branch is small, but they have a wide range of vehicles. However, once you arrive at the store, they will strongly recommend insurance, which is quite expensive. It is much cheaper to buy it in your home country. Britz's cars are relatively old; mine had 190,000 kilometers on it. If possible, I recommend Maui, whose cars are two to three years old, while Britz's are over three years old. KEA's cars are only one year old.
The sunroof broke on its own and flew off during the drive. They insisted we broke it. Who could be strong enough to snap a sunroof? Thankfully, we got full insurance and were compensated over eight thousand.
When picking up the car, they recommended full insurance for 42 NZD per day. Although it's extra on top of the order price, it is very necessary because with it, there’s no need for a credit card pre-authorization. The coverage is extensive, including vehicle damage, a can of gas, and an extra driver's spot.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
