I initially wanted to rent a German car, so I chose the VW T-Cross through Avis. In the end, after asking repeatedly, they said it was unavailable, and I had to pick between two options—the Jeep Renegade or another model I had never heard of. Well, when I arrived at the parking lot and found my car parked next to the Jeep, it turned out to be a T-Cross (not the one shown in the pictures). In that moment, I was overwhelmed with frustration.
Anyway, I still had to focus on driving. My planned journey was around 3 hours, covering approximately 300 kilometers. Let me first mention the advantages of this car—it runs, it can connect to Bluetooth, and driving it feels like handling a small truck, which is quite a unique experience. As for the downsides, it's hard to put into words. I hope to have better luck next time. Done.
The parking spot was hard to find, spent a long time searching. The car was very old and had a small chip in the glass, which was there from the start and was verified.
Initially, they wanted to provide us with a compact SUV, and only after we firmly disagreed did they give us the mid-size SUV we had reserved. However, the vehicle's condition was quite poor, with significant dents and scratches.
The rental company initially recommended additional insurance, but after showing the QEEQ order indicating full coverage was already purchased domestically, the staff didn't insist further.
The process was very smooth. Gas stations around Milan Airport are hard to find, so I returned the car without a full tank and paid proportionally. The fuel price was reasonable. Great experience!
I was an hour late, but had no issues picking up the car. The staff explained that additional insurance coverage was not necessary, and there were no other sales pitches. Any existing damage to the vehicle was clearly marked on the pickup form.
An extremely terrible experience! The rental car was covered in numerous dents and scratches, but none of them were marked on the pick-up document. What’s even more absurd is that when returning the car, the staff asked me to show the photos I took during pick-up. After reviewing them, they found one area I hadn’t photographed and claimed that damage was caused by me! They immediately charged over 1000 euros directly from my credit card. Absolutely ridiculous!
When picking up the car, I told her I had purchased QEEQ insurance; she didn't say much. She also showed me which parts of the car had scratches and marked them on the diagram. During the inspection, I found a few small scratches on the door that weren't marked and informed the staff. He said it was fine as long as I took photos. When returning the car, it was very dirty inside and out due to the rain. QEEQ reminded me that cleaning was required, so I was initially worried they might charge me. However, the staff took a quick look and said everything was fine. Not long after, they canceled the €236 deposit on my credit card.
