The staff requested self-registration, but the automated machine failed at the last step... It wasted my time, and in the end, I still had to queue for more than ten minutes.
There is a shuttle bus from the airport to the rental company, which is very convenient. There are multiple service counters at the car rental place, and the waiting time is short. The service is enthusiastic.
The service was great, but the car exchange point in downtown San Francisco was hard to find. However, it’s not easy to find anything in San Francisco because of the one-way streets and complex traffic rules. It took me 30 minutes to find a spot just 300 meters away. I recommend returning the car at the airport if possible.
Used the Alamo "Skip the Counter" option which saves having to queue at the desk. Just go straight to the garage and pick the car you want from those available in your group.
Needed to extend our rental for a couple of days due to unforeseen circumstances but this was easily arranged by phoning them.
