I have never left a review before (good or bad) but my experience with Easirent was so bad I had to. After experiencing an issue with my credit card I was forced to pay for added insurance that I didn't want, with no help or flexibility or suggestions from the counter staff at all, who was visibly delighted to be taking an extra £120 for a service I didn't need or want (despite me offering to pay the full £1600 deposit instead). Later, when trying to contact Easirent to confirm drop off / shuttle arrangements (on a Friday morning) no one answered any of the phone lines, despite multiple attempts throughout the day. On arriving at drop-off, we were told 'the driver hasn't turned up today, so you'll have to get yourself to the airport' - no hint of paying for the taxi, or even calling a taxi on our behalf. Genuinely the worst customer service of any kind I have ever received. I hope my experience was a one-off, but I somehow doubt it.
The address on the pickup slip is their office address, not the store address. You need to wait for someone from the store to deliver and pick up the car. As a result, we waited for half an hour to pick up the car and an hour and a half to return it. They said they'd be there in 10 minutes, but after multiple '10 minutes,' they still hadn't arrived! They also asked for all your bank card information, including the security code, at pickup, and then charged random fees after return. Extremely unsafe! Very poor service!
It was a local small company, the rental process was quite complicated, but the service was okay. The signs and parking spots were average, just the price was low.
Car was a competitive rate, ideal size and generally sound if a little dirty.
Location is about 10 minutes from the airport, a shuttle bus is provided but operated by a parking company and not good 'easyrent' identification signage to see it.
Car was not clean when collecting, difficult to inspect for any damage to sign off collection paperwork. Return was challenging (before 6.30 am), office not open, told to park on kerb on street and return keys to nearby car park company - created unecessary risk for me as a customer.
TLDR: Overall car as described and had competitive rates, staff were friendly -but- cleanlienesss of car, shuttle bus signage / instructions and return process system could be much better.
The worst car service ever. We would like a refund.
1)nobody came to pick us up from Edinburgh station or took our calls so we had to take a cab till the pick up point.
2)when we reached our car was not available and we had to wait 2 hours to finally get the car and leave
3)because of the late car arrival we had to pay extra to check out from the hotel
4) as suggested by the guy who gave us the car, my father - sent a complaint emails to the manager who never replied and did nothing about it.
6) we are also having a major problem with the left top car tyre since the first day. Every few km we need to stop at a gas station and fill it in. We were in the middle of mull with no gas station around and the tyre was very low in air so we couldn’t go on. Luckily for us a gentleman passing by in his car was a mechanic and he had a pump and stopped to help us out.
7) finally, this whole car rental company had been quite a disaster for us we and we didn’t even get an apology in return.
Total scam operation. Was charged £260 for a tiny, barely visible scratch at the end of the rental period (photos attached). Also, a huge deposit was taken on our card at the beginning (£1500), as well as a gas deposit (£95), very surprising. Difficult to find office, chose to walk instead of paying the £3/per person shuttle fee. Office was small, cramped, univiting. Not recommended in anyway.
