Driver's License in Fiji

If your driver’s license is not in English or doesn’t have a stamped photograph, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required. Please note that the IDP is only a translation and you must bring your original driver’s license with you.


For driver’s license from countries not part of the international driver’s license treaty, an official translation of the license in English must be presented with the original license.


The license should be held for at least 2 years with no major endorsements.

9Disappointed with the equivalent car provided.

The car was meant to be the equivalent of a Toyota Vitz but it was a very cheap and low spec vehicle. No digital interface and central locking was managed from inside the drivers door. A/C was poor and interior was very old fashioned. Not value for money compared to a recent Toyota.

9.3Easy and hassle-free

It was a great choice to rent a car in Fiji as it gave us total freedom to get around. Taxis are plentiful but also become expensive when traveling between villages and tourist destinations. The Nadi Europcar team was awesome and the whole experience was hassle-free.

No shuttle or Euro Staff at the airport to pick us up from the airport to the rental location. Did not Fiji local sim so it took a while to get that sorted. Once, I got there, the car was not ready for pick up. They said 7 mins but it took 30-60 mins to get the car.

3Avoid Europcar fiji at all costs. The lady at the budget desk at Nadi airport was very helpful.

Euro car isn’t at the airport. And doesn’t have a service desk. Attendant got annoyed when we called to request the car. Then double charged us on pick up. Wasn’t at the offsite address at drop off. And instructed us to leave vehicle at the airport carpark with the keys in it. After sending pictures to agency. For confirmation about receipt of undamaged vehicle Still no response. And no refund for deposit of $800 fjd. We hire exclusively thru europcar. Both personally and professionally. Untill now Car stank. And wasn’t clean. ( I believe was an overflow car)

The pick up process and return process was smooth and fast. Compare to budget.com car rental, it's much better. We booked our car rental from budget.com on 17 Nov and end up we were told that the car we booked having technical issue problem and they requested to use another car rental company with additional price top up. However, this bad experience did not happen on Europcar and we were quite impressed with the free upgrade to Volkswagen Polo. Well done Europcar.

8I paid for something I didn’t get

I would like to complain. I paid for a 4x4 and specifically wrote in my booking request that I needed this due to remote location of accommodation. However, on arrival the 4x4 was not available. The similar (term used lightly) vehicle offered was an SUV, this wasn’t capable at doing the unmarked road safely! So the fact that I didn’t really get the car I paid for pretty much ruined the holiday as we were constantly worrying that if it rained we would probably be stuck. Thanks for charging me for a car that I clearly didn’t get to use. Where you advertise a car or one similar, it would be nice if you actually adhered to this! I paid for a 4x4 and got an standard SUV! The reduction in price for the SUV was minimal, I feel I was ripped off and the local office were useless at trying to resolve the fact that the 4x4 wasn’t available!

6.3Nadi airport - Long waits!

Got to desk to pick up car and there were no cars available. Budget tried to take us to another company counter to get them to change to their service, but they had nothing available. Had to wait over an hour (after already being there around 30mins) until one came up we could take. Car was good though, reliable and clean with minimal wear.

Being forced to drop the vehicle at Suva airport instead of Suva was a pain in the bum. We decided to use the local buses for the remainder of the trip due to difficulty around the pickup and drop off situation. You missed out of 10 days of large car rental.

5.3Avoid Europcar in Fiji

Daihatsu Perodua instead of Hyundai Getz. Car in a really poor condition. I would like to add pictures but I can't don't know why. Noisy, no screenwash, wipers in bad state. Full to full - forget it. Good thing you don't have to worry about returning a car as you will never return it in worse condition than you took it and no one bothers to check it when returning. You can feel like real fijian in your dirty, noisy car - indigenous will even try to stop you thinking that it's one of them. One more good thing - working air conditioning!!! Even if paid full price before rental at the desk had to pay additional costs which were not mentioned previously - stamp duty + something else.

We rented Medium SUV "Jeep Compass" 4 Doors or similar, the car is very old, the left and right rear mirror controller is bad, can not be controlled, the car is not clean, the car has many damage, the brakes are also Unsafe, less than 15 minutes from the airport to the hotel, the vehicle is very dangerous, immediately return to the airport to change the car, the car rental company is very unsafe for vehicle maintenance, very poor,,when I return the car at 05:30am,the counter is no staff on duty!!

23 days self-driving tour around Nadi and Suva.

They provided a Mitsubishi Jeep with several issues: a long wait time, the car was dirty, it had exterior damage, there were a few tires inside the car, and the fuel tank was empty. After negotiating, we had to drive the given car to the hotel first, then they brought another car of the same type from our order to the hotel for exchange. This car rental experience was very unpleasant.

They did not provide the agreed model but gave me an old jeep instead. Soon after driving, the tire had problems. The Europcar staff personally replaced it with a Mitsubishi Pajero that had over 140,000 km, in poor condition with a lot of noise. It was night when I swapped the car, so I couldn't thoroughly check for damages or cleanliness. The staff assured me there was no issue unless there was major damage. On returning the car, another staff pointed out scratches and charged me FJD 25 for a car wash, even though I had taken insurance when picking up the car. The car's condition during return was no different from when I rented it.

Q1.What is an insurance excess?

The excess is the amount you'll only be liable for in case of damage(under Collision Damage Waiver) or theft(under Theft Protection) of the vehicle.
Information about the excess will be clearly stated in the price inclusion when you reserve a car on QEEQ.

Q2. How can I add an addtional driver?

You are advised to make a request upon your arrival at the rental counter. Additional charge per day will incur unless '1 Additional Driver Included' is stipulated on the rental.
Please note that the same licence and age requirement applys to the additonal driver. The addtional driver is supposed to present the required licence document along with the main driver at pickup.

Q3.What if I want to pick up or drop off my rental car out of office hours?

QEEQ will show you the car offers available at your chosen time on the search results.
However, pick-up or drop-off out of general opening hours may subject to an extra fee unless self-service pick-up or drop-off is available.
After you reserve a car on QEEQ, we will inform you of specific policy of the car hire company by email.

Q4. Can I take the hired car to another country or cross border?

If you want to pick up your car in one country and drop it in another, your search results will show you cars you can do that with.
If you're planning to cross any borders during your trip, bear in mind:
1. You may have to pay more.
There are often extra fees, taxes or additional cover you'll pay at the car hire counter.
2.It may not be allowed.
Depending on where you're hiring, you may not be able to take your car to another country.
Please email us if you want to take your hire car into a different country during your trip, and we'll talk you through your options.

Q5. Can I pick up my car at one location and return it at different location?

Yes. You can pick up the vehicle in one place and drop it off in another. An ‘one-way fee’ will incur. Whether it is inclued in the rental price or what additional cost may arise will be clearly stated at the time of booking on QEEQ.
Please inform the car hire company of your drop-off location when you pick up the vehicle or contact them directly during your trip. You will find a phone number on the rental agreement you signed at pickup.
