Poor attitude, no one explained the vehicle condition. The vehicle did not match the reservation; it felt like a lower class. The extra charges for taxes were unclear. The exchange rate from euros to lira was very low, resulting in a significant difference between the amount paid and the rental receipt.
I rented a Ford Focus Estate but was given a Ford Fiesta instead. I was furious, thinking the price should be the same! After complaining, they swapped it for a Dacia, which was extremely old. I doubted if it could last 3000 kilometers without breaking down. Finally, the rental company provided me with a Renault Clio, which was barely acceptable. It was really frustrating. I had to go back and forth from the terminal parking lot twice just to sort this out. Such a hassle!
Very satisfied with the vehicle's condition and the service was great too. However, when picking up the car, I asked if there was a return location in the city center and they said there was. But when I went to return the car, I found the store was already closed. I asked a nearby company and found out it had been closed for a while. Calling didn't help, so I had to drive to the airport to return the car, almost missing my evening bus.
Picked up the car at IZMIR airport, easily found the rental companies right after exiting. The car was in good condition. Later, I had a rear-end accident and the company handled it promptly. Since I had full insurance, there were no additional charges. Highly recommended!
Overall, the service was good, but the final car wasn’t what I initially reserved as a medium-sized Ford Focus (or similar). Firstly, there was no Ford automatic version available. Secondly, the car reserved for me was a Peugeot hatchback, which is noticeably smaller than a medium-sized car. Finally, I chose a Hyundai Accent. Although it's a compact car, it was fairly new (with just over 8,000 kilometers) and drove without any issues.
The service was quite mediocre. Firstly, the pick-up location shown online was supposed to be in the arrivals hall, but we searched for a long time and couldn't find the car rental company's counter. There was no staff at the arrival exit to greet us either. After waiting for a long time, we had to call the car rental company for someone to pick us up. During the verification process for the vehicle, no one explained any important notices or terms and conditions. There was also no reminder to inspect the car. Only after we requested did they inspect the scratches and marks on the car. We needed to rent their GPS, but it turned out to be broken. The staff tried to fix it for a while but it still didn't work. When we asked for a replacement or if someone could bring another one, they refused and just left. We were given a Ford Focus, which surprisingly required premium 95 gasoline. It was a rip-off and consumed fuel very quickly. The range displayed on the dashboard was highly inaccurate and dropped rapidly, leaving us unsure if there was a problem. The car had issues when starting, and it shook badly. Overall, it was very cheap, but the service was really just average.
For those who will pick up their cars in the future, be aware that the rental company's office is only open when flights arrive. It’s deserted at other times.
Avoid Boycar at all costs. I was supposed to pick up the car at 10 AM, but they told me there were no automatic cars left and asked me to take a manual. I refused and had to wait until 2 PM when someone returned a car. This didn't change my return time? I've been driving for 7 years, but the staff kept scaring me, saying Turkey is unsafe and I'd have to pay for any incidents, then charged me 35 euros a day for insurance. When returning the car, they said the standard fee includes a 10-euro car wash. If I had dirtied the car, I'd understand, but I didn't. Extremely poor experience.
The service was very enthusiastic. However, when returning the car, I was in a hurry to catch a flight and didn't have time to wash it. The inspector asked for 100 lira as a cleaning fee; after negotiation, we settled on 15 lira, paid in cash. It seems they might have pocketed the money as a small tip.
