The car was old but functional. The reserved child safety seat was damaged and unusable. Additionally, the safety seat was a basic model costing about 100 RMB on Taobao, so its safety is questionable. It seems its main purpose is to avoid fines.

Moreover, it was broken and couldn't be used as the safety buckle wouldn't close. They had no replacements available, so my child had to be held for three days, which was very unsafe. Secondly, the car was quite old, a Toyota Altis with over 120,000 kilometers. While the exterior paint looked new, the interior was outdated, and the leather seats were dirty and worn, though the cleanliness was acceptable. Overall, I don't recommend Yesaway car rentals, even for flash rentals. They don't seem to take renters' safety seriously, especially with their joke of a safety seat. If you are traveling with a child, I suggest bringing your own simple child safety seat. Using and discarding it afterward would be better than the one provided by the rental company. It seems all of Thailand uses such basic safety seats. Southeast Asia might still be in an era where safety seats are merely to avoid fines and not genuinely for children's safety.
