The drive was smooth, completed paperwork at the counter, picked up the car at the parking lot, and there were staff available to answer questions about the car.

There are actually very few Viano models available from HERTZ. When we went to pick up the car, they didn't have any left. They said our luggage was too much and that vehicles of the same grade wouldn't suffice, suggesting we upgrade to a VITO116, and charged us an additional 400 yuan for the upgrade. In fact, we didn't see any other vehicles of the same grade as VIANO in the parking lot. The staff member (an old lady) didn't upgrade us for free but rather persuaded us to pay for the upgrade, which felt a bit dishonest.

About Hertz: 10.0 /10
The two staff members at Hertz Munich Airport were very nice. We encountered some issues when picking up the car, but after four to five hours of effort, they eventually managed to rent us a car. Returning the car in Frankfurt was very convenient; the staff just drove the car to check the mileage, and that was it. They didn't inspect the exterior, possibly because we had purchased the comprehensive insurance. We had reserved a BMW X3 but were given a Volvo wagon instead. The car was a diesel model, very new, with many features and a built-in German navigation system that was quite useful during our trip.

I booked a BMW 3 Series without navigation but ended up with a Land Rover Evoque, which had only been driven for over 8000 kilometers, included navigation, and was a diesel version. What a pleasant surprise! I scheduled the pickup for 8 AM but arrived a little after 7 AM and was able to get the car immediately. The service was also excellent!

About Hertz: 4.0 /10
It wasn't hard to find the HERTZ counter at Munich Airport, and there weren't many customers at that time. The staff's service was attentive. However, we were surprised to find a spending trap set by HERTZ staff in Munich: On May 20th, we prepaid over a month in advance for 12 days of rental and super insurance through Zuzuche. To be extra cautious, we also bought 13 days of coverage from Worldwide Insure that included Deluxe EXCESS (covering road assistance, tires, glass, roof, and chassis). We arrived in Munich on the morning of July 6, went to the counter to handle the formalities, and provided the rental contract, pickup voucher, driver’s ID, notarized documents, and even the Worldwide Insure email confirmation and insurance policy to the staff. The service agent did not ask if we needed additional insurance. He ultimately gave us a credit card receipt totaling €641. We were unclear about the charges but asked the staff who said it was a pre-authorization and would be refunded later. So, we signed and picked up the car. After returning to our home country, we waited for the refund. Following several emails and phone negotiations, we found out the forced charges on the receipt included: 1) Estimate of charges includes Unlimited Kilometres €134.50; 2) PERS Glass & Tyre €117.00, plus a tax of €48.75, totaling €305.35. HERTZ refunded us €50 and then ignored us. The HERTZ store at Munich Airport definitely deserves a poor rating. HERTZ staff did not ask if we needed to purchase the insurance and took advantage of us not having the time to scrutinize the receipt, causing us unnecessary loss. This is a serious act of deception.
