You can arrive of Thrifty - Honolulu International Airport car rental by free shuttle bus.

On-airport rental car offices are located on the ground level of the Terminal 2 Parking Garage. Rental car shuttles stop in designated areas along the center median on the ground level outside of the baggage claim areas. For Hawaiian Airlines and commuter terminal arrivals: - Proceed outside the baggage claim to the curb marked "Rental Car" for the consolidated rental car shuttle bus. For all other arrivals: - Proceed to the crosswalk between baggage claim E and F, cross the street, and head to the rental car center on the ground level of the parking garage. - Follow the blue "Rental Car Center" signs located on the pillars outside the baggage claim area.

A vehicle can be driven across the Canadian border at any time, no matter what location it was rented from. It is recommended to have PERS coverage when using vehicle in cross border rentals for the US and Canada. The renter must have a valid driver's license and rental record to cross the border into Canada. Canadian law does require that everyone entering the country have a passport, so everyone in the vehicle must have the proper identification. The staff informed us that they don't even have the Suburban model and gave us a rather old Conqueror. They said if we want to change cars we have to call and check ourselves, and only if there are available cars can we switch. They won't notify us as soon as a car becomes available.

I reserved a Corolla, but no vehicle was available. They asked for an upgrade fee, but after a lot of hassle, they offered a small car that couldn't fit luggage. After refusing it, I waited for 30 minutes and got a Hyundai Elantra that was about 60% new. So, the service is just average.

Although they washed the exterior of the car, the inside had a layer of volcanic ash on the dashboard, and the steering wheel felt grimy. There were even cockroaches; my friend felt something crawling on his leg while driving, and we eventually saw it crawling into the center console.
