The reservation indicated I had to pay around $148 at the counter, but the rental company added $6 for road assistance and $12 for insurance without asking me, which should have made the total around $166. However, I was ultimately charged approximately $180.
Picking up and returning the car was very convenient. There were not many people renting, so we didn't have to wait in line at all. The staff were very friendly and, even though we don't speak English, they helped us complete the car rental process quickly. They did not try to sell us any additional products or services.
I was shocked to find out that you had rented me a car with tyres that did not confirm to even a minimum legal requirement what so ever.
We had a Blow-Out at a very inconvenient place where temperatures soaring near 90F. We had to reroute ourselves to a busier but a longer route as we were concerned about driving on a short cut that was not a main highway. Flat tyres can happen but blow-outs shouldn't happen!
We managed to get back to Alice Springs without further incident, took the car to Beurepaires a tire repair shop and upon inspection by them they had some expletive words to describe the condition of at least two of the three remaining tires on the vehicle. They were shocked that Hertz would rent a car with tyres of this condition. and kept repeating that its illegal for you to have done so. They were so disturbed about it that the manager Cain took it upon himself to call the local Hertz office in Alice Springs and spoke with I believe the Name was Tasha (General Manager) who told him to refer me to Alice City TyrePower who again immediately Condemned the tyres and was shocked that Hertz rented a car with tyres in the condition that they were. They got authorization from Hertz to replace all 4 tyres . The whole thing consumed my whole morning and and also pretty much ruined the entire previous day.
Hertz! do you realize the dangers of driving a car with bad tyres some with visible inner wires exposed. I have pictures of them and you don't need to take my word for it just ask your authorized Tyre Dealer in Alice Springs and the second Dealer who is fully prepared to give evidence of the fact that you had illegal tyres on the vehicle.
Is Hertz Australia so indifferent to human life that you try to squeeze out a few more kilometers to increase your profits.
Do you have any remorse to the fact that you could have killed me and my family due to your negligence.
I have written separately to Hertz Customer Service, no response yet other than an auto acknow
The store did not provide a Japanese car, but instead gave us a Korean business vehicle, insisting they are not a car manufacturer and even claimed it's better since it has two more seats. Their attitude was extremely bad and made us very angry! You should know that without an SUV, many wilderness spots in Australia are inaccessible! We paid in full and were completely dissatisfied with the service and the vehicle provided!!!
Dislike: Returning the vehicle I was unsure if there would be any additional charges (such as for damage, or extra km). I had to request a Hertz staff member to look over the vehicle and assure me there would be no charges for any damage (although I did not sign anything, and nor did the Hertz staff member). The staff member also did not check the mileage on the car to know if I had driven further than the included mileage. Thus, I am still checking my credit card transactions hoping there will be no surprises from Hertz!!!!!
Hertz truly lives up to its reputation as a leading car rental company. The service was excellent. We picked up the car at Uluru Airport, with the counter located right next to the baggage claim area in the terminal. Though there were multiple rental counters, the queue for Hertz was the longest. There were three staff members handling the rentals, and the process was quite fast. A handsome young man helped us with the paperwork, and within no time, we had signed the contract and received the keys.
We were involved in an accident, so upon returning the car, we asked for an inspection. Coincidentally, it was the same guy who had assisted us during pickup. He inquired about the accident, took photos of the damaged areas, and upon learning that we had insurance, reassured us not to worry. He logged the damage in the system, and that was it.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
