As expected, highly recommend full insurance, but it can be declined.
Had a flat tire during the trip, and the company refused to provide any assistance.
Hertz's service overseas is generally average and not particularly friendly to tourists. This time, due to Ramadan, the phone could not be reached. It's best to confirm in person before picking up the car.
When we were booking the car, we saw this rental company's rating was very poor! Many people reported that the car they received was not as good as the one they booked, and they would find unreasonable faults to withhold the deposit. However, because their rental price was slightly lower, we still chose them. To avoid unjustified charges, we specifically added full insurance costing over 3000 RMB when we arrived at the store! We were assured that any issues with the car would not be our responsibility and would not impact our deposit! However, while in Fes, some people tried to extort money from us and damaged the car when we refused! Now the car rental company refuses to return any of our deposit, claiming there was damage to the car! If we have to be responsible for car damage, what was the point of paying for the full insurance? Also, we booked a Volvo XC60 but were given another car instead! This is very unfair and frustrating! Plus, the overall quality of people in Morocco is extremely poor. I strongly advise everyone not to be tempted by lower prices and choose this rental company. You get what you pay for!
Car had tons of scratches (consistent with the average condition of cars in Morocco though) however the hertz inspector took care to document all of them before we got the car. We were not informed/reminded about road tolls which caused us some complications being ill-prepared with no cash on hand. The hertz inspector also did not speak english and we had to find instructions online how the keyless system worked in our rental car. Upon return of the car there was no signs for rental cars, mostly an airport problem though rather than fault of hertz. Overall we got the car we expected and we had no issues with it during our stay, just some logistics and service around the rental experience that could be improved.
They aggressively pushed insurance and pretended my card had insufficient funds when the first transaction failed. I had to argue strongly to avoid adding insurance.
When returning the car at around 4 PM local time on October 4th, a male staff member, approximately 40 years old, attempted to extort money from me over a car wash issue at the office in the terminal. I was not informed about any specific car wash standards required upon return. The employee exhibited very poor attitude, demanding 1500 Dirhams. After I firmly refused to pay, he lowered the demand to 500 Dirhams, threatening to deduct 1500 Dirhams from my credit card deposit if I didn't comply. This was the same employee who enthusiastically sold me their comprehensive insurance at pick-up, claiming it included everything. However, during the extortion attempt, he denied his previous promises. When I requested his name for a complaint, he refused to provide his full name. This experience with Hertz was extremely negative due to this employee!
They charged a 4205 RMB deposit and only refunded 961 RMB. When returning the car, they said everything was fine. However, after we got back home, they only refunded a bit over 900 RMB. When we called, they claimed there was damage to the car, which is not true since we had no incidents during the rental period. They also forced us to buy a 3000 RMB insurance at the counter. This company is definitely a scam. I do not recommend renting from them.
After my flight was delayed, I went to the store to pick up the car only to be told that there were no cars available. The worst part is that they charged the full rental fee and didn't refund it.
Average service, but they were very persistent in selling insurance. Although we had already purchased QEEQ’s super insurance, they made us doubt if the coverage was sufficient.
They force you to buy their insurance; otherwise, they charge a deposit of almost $3000 (and they don’t accept UnionPay). But if you agree to buy the insurance, they accept all cards. Hertz doesn't have this issue in other countries.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
