At the counter, the staff asked us if we wanted to pay extra to upgrade the vehicle. After we declined, their attitude became very cold, and without our consent, they secretly added a so-called road assistance insurance for $106.80!!! When charged, we asked why, and they said it was a deposit and would be refunded when we returned the car. After picking up the car, we asked customer service and found out it was an added insurance!!! What a scam!!! We will never rent from AVIS again! Liars!!!

The service at the San Francisco pick-up location was mediocre.

There were many people, waited in line for 1.5 hours to get processed

The counter staff was very friendly. When I picked up the car and had questions, the on-site staff came to help immediately.

The girl at the San Francisco counter was really pushing for insurance, and even called a Chinese staff member to explain it to us. It wasted a lot of our time. Also, both times we chose a two-door car, but they only had four-door cars available at the counter. Quite disappointing.
