Infuriating experience at the Alamo rental point in Toronto Airport: My booking stated a pickup time of 5:00 PM (17:00), but my flight arrived early, so I picked up the car 45 minutes earlier (4:15 PM). The staff did not inform me about any additional charges and processed it as an extra day's rental, charging me for a whole additional day. I am extremely displeased with this unprofessional behavior. Let this be a lesson learned.
Although my English is not very good, using translation software was no problem. The staff were very patient and explained all the fees clearly. I chose the full-to-empty fuel policy. Especially during the return process, I accidentally drove into the departure parking area instead of the arrival parking lot where I was supposed to return the car. The parking area was too large, and I couldn't find my way to the correct spot. Fortunately, a staff member kindly assisted me in driving the car to the return location. Very nice! Returning the car was very convenient—just handed it over to the staff. The deposit was released quickly, much faster than the one-month wait they mentioned earlier. The car was in great condition, and I recommend bringing an iPhone to use CarPlay navigation and a phone holder. Overall, it was a great experience.
Both pick-up and drop-off were very easy, and the provided vehicle had good cost performance. Compared to renting and returning cars domestically, mutual trust is the most cost-effective way to transact. Thumbs up.
There was no detailed explanation about the full fuel service. They only asked if I needed a full tank when picking up, but didn't mention that after purchasing, I could return the car with any fuel level. This led to a direct loss of 120 CAD.
The check-in process was very thorough. To ensure we had a car with a GPS, they upgraded our vehicle and offered extra insurance options. The only issue was that the baby seat was missing one buckle.
