The staff at the Santorini Airport car rental were fantastic. Despite our limited English, they communicated patiently, and the car return process was quick and convenient.
Overall, it was okay. The staff were very friendly but extremely meticulous during the inspection! They paid close attention even to the tiniest scratches. They kept promoting their insurance. The car was quite old and didn't have Bluetooth, so I used my own speaker to play music throughout the trip. Given the low price, it's a reasonable option for those looking for affordability. Taking photos and videos during pickup is highly recommended, and the staff there also suggested doing so because they are very thorough during the inspection. For example, they spent a lot of time and recorded even a scratch smaller than half the size of a pinky fingernail. I was worried that they would be equally strict during drop-off. Luckily, I drove very carefully and avoided any scratches or collisions. However, there were indeed many gravel roads, so extra caution is necessary.

Nada funcionou, estava tudo fechado e o telefone fornecido não recebia ligações. Ficamos 1 hora esperando no aeroporto sem qualquer contato e depois de muitas pesquisas na internet encontramos o endereço da Surface, que só operava à partir das 8h. Perdemos mais de 1 hora e chegamos a acreditar que havia fraude no serviço pois ninguém respondia chat e nem havia qualquer telefone para contato. Nem da surface nem da QeeQ.
The car I picked up was not the model I reserved, and it turned out to be an electric car. I have almost no experience driving electric cars, and the dashboard indicated the handbrake wasn't released, so the car wouldn’t move. When I asked the staff, they had no idea either, and there was only this one model available with no alternatives except switching to a manual. On top of that, the electric car’s battery drained extremely fast, and I could only buy charging service from the store, which ended up costing more than fuel.
I was informed on booking that someone will be waiting outside the arrival hall to assist me with the car. There was no one and I had to ask around. A staff from another company directed me on the direction to the car rental office, which was outside the terminal, about 500m away. Otherwise the car was good and I had no problems using it.
Our flight schedule changed, combining two flights into one, and we arrived two hours early. They charged us an extra 40 euros to pick up the car earlier; otherwise, we had to wait until the original scheduled time. It felt a bit like extortion. I've never experienced a car rental where you couldn't pick up earlier than planned!
No one came to hold a sign to pick us up at the airport. After leaving the airport and going uphill, you can see the Alamo flag, it's just a 3-minute walk from there. The staff have an accent, which makes them hard to understand. You need to leave your phone number and email address to help them contact you. The deposit is frozen at 900 euros, which is excessively high! The car provided was very old, had tens of thousands of kilometers on it, and had many scratches! The rims were also damaged! You need to record every detail on-site and clarify everything with the staff; otherwise, you might be wrongly charged when returning the car. Luckily, I recorded videos!
Rented during the off-season, no waiting required, completed the formalities and picked up the car immediately. The car was not the model I reserved and was slightly smaller than expected. When returning the car, there was no staff in the office area, had to call someone to come and complete the return.
The car was in poor condition, full of damages. The pre-authorization of 1,100 euros was directly charged 26 days after returning the car, without any documents or communication. Now I have to resolve this through Zuzuche.
