CAR RENTAL REVIEWS ON DOLLAR IN SAN JOSE

Like: The price was the best price I could find online. I was skeptical since I've never heard of this car rental website in the past. I rented from San Jose airport and it was fast, easy and friendly service (I chose Dollar). I was so impressed with the rate of the car I will go first to easyrentcars.com next time and nowhere else!
Dislike: The only hesitation I would have in the future is that I had to pay in full before the trip. My travel changes often, so I'd be hesitant to pay in advance if my trip wasn't 100% confirmed. Otherwise, It was wonderful!

The staff is quite patient, but the language communication is not very smooth.

Upon pick up, Dollar computers were down. The car was filthy with stains and ground in food on front passenger seat.

I have rented cars abroad dozens of times, but this was my first time with Dollar and it was a terrible experience. 1. This was my second time driving on Highway 1, and I specifically rented a classic American Mustang convertible. When I arrived at the store, they told me there were no cars available. One staff member said the same car model was oversold by six, so basically, I couldn't get it. They offered me an upgrade but wanted to charge me an extra $160. WTF? 2. I reluctantly decided to take a Fusion, but then there was another problem. My credit card authorization for the deposit failed. Neither my wife nor I could use three different credit cards successfully. (Later, another staff member retried, but it still failed). So, I had to call my friend in California to use his license and ID to rent the car, which took another half hour. 3. After getting back in line and waiting for my friend to redo the process, the second staff member finally gave me a free upgrade to a Jaguar XE. However, the whole process took an hour and a half, causing us to miss the most important scenic spot, Big Sur (we planned to catch the sunset there), which was the biggest regret of this trip. Overall, Dollar has a car shortage and oversells, has slow service, rude staff, and their credit card machines inexplicably fail (I must note that this was the only company where my credit card had issues during my entire US trip, everything else went smoothly). This affected our trip, and the experience was horrible!

Easy site to search good prices

I was surprised to have a brand new 2019 car. Liked the car, but the front driver seat was a little cramped. For someone with shorter legs and smaller body frame the steering wheel is not too in the way, but for larger bodies and longer legs it is too cramped in space. I liked the gas mileage and how easily it fit in the small compact parking spaces.

Excellent. The car is in good condition.

Like: The car and the service
Dislike: that the insurance for the hybrid that I had pre-ordered was so high that I could not afford it. But I guess thats not your fault.

Satisfactory

I used it to take the California driving test. The additional fee is slightly higher than Thrifty, but they all use Hertz cars.

Like: Helpful counter folks. Price was very good.
Dislike: Not overly excited by the Chevy car, although it was new. Not your fault.

Like: Quick and easy, excellent price.
Dislike: No complaints.

Dollar is my fav car rental of all time especially the SJC location where i can pick my own car.

Hire more cute attendants you will get more customers.

The car rental center is right across from San Jose Airport, all in one hall, very convenient

Overall very satisfied. This car made our half-month trip in California very convenient. From San Francisco to Los Angeles along the beautiful Highway 1, and even a visit to Yosemite National Park, we have wonderful memories.
