Due to my own oversight, I didn't check properly when renting the car. The car was actually given to me with half a tank of fuel, which I realized only after starting the engine. By then, the staff had already left. I believe the person handing over the car should have informed me about this. With limited time on a trip, I didn't want the hassle of going back and forth. Fortunately, fuel prices in the Middle East are very low, around three currency units per liter.
The overall service was average. The staff had a cold attitude during the car rental process and it took a long time. They didn't clearly explain the specific requirements and just asked me to sign an electronic document that I couldn't understand. I booked a Hyundai Tucson SUV, but they gave me a Toyota Corolla sedan instead. They didn't explain or respond to my concerns, and I had to take the car as is. When we went to the Green Mountain in Nizwa, the sedan was not allowed in the mountainous area, so we had to rent a local SUV for a day at the cost of 800 RMB, which caused additional expenses.
The counter inside the airport is relatively easy to find. The pickup is in the parking lot, and there was no one to guide us. We had to follow the directions from the counter. We waited more than half an hour for the car, which was different from the one we reserved. We booked a sedan, but we got a hatchback. We were told it could fit two 24-inch suitcases, but the hatchback clearly couldn't. This was very disappointing. Also, in Oman, you have to wash the car before returning it, or you'll be charged. When returning the car, the store asked for the booking slip again, even though they had already checked it when we picked up the car. Overall, compared to experiences in China, there is still much room for improvement.
Picked up with a full tank policy, but they gave me half a tank of fuel. I returned the car with a full tank and they didn't refund the fuel cost. Complained to the rental company but no resolution...
