Renting a car in Jordan can be quite tricky. At pickup, the staff carefully inspect and take photos, but during drop-off, they check unexpected areas near the bottom edges of the car. Since I didn't drive off-road and the car has a high ground clearance, it definitely wouldn't have sustained any damage, but without photo evidence, you have to take their word for it. Maybe the inspection is stricter for returning the car to a different location. Also, the car wasn't provided with a full tank; it was 1/4 full at pickup, and they don't reimburse for extra fuel upon return like some domestic rental companies do. It's hard to control the fuel level, and if it's below 1/4 on return, they'll charge for 1/8 of a tank. Lastly, regarding the credit card pre-authorization, it was charged directly instead of being a hold, and I only received the notification in the afternoon even though it was done at 9 AM. Once back in my home country, I'll have to wait 30 days to see any refund, losing out on exchange rate differences.
In addition to credit and debit cards, you can now pay for online car rentals with cryptocurrency! Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are accepted. Curious about how long a Bitcoin transaction takes or how to pay with Bitcoin? Read our FAQs for more details.
