After waiting in line for more than an hour, I finally reached the counter. When I booked through the rental platform, I had already purchased full insurance. At the counter, I told the staff that I'd fully paid and bought full insurance. She asked me to sign on the iPad, where I noticed a lot of English terms and an amount listed. I reiterated that I had already paid in full and wondered why the amount was displayed. She assured me I wouldn't need to pay extra, it was just a signature. She didn't provide any contract or receipt, only a pick-up slip. After returning the car, I discovered $112.75 had been charged from my card. When I called to inquire, they said it was for additional insurance fees. I found this very confusing—I'd already purchased full insurance, why would I need duplicate coverage? Additionally, if there were extra charges, the staff should clearly inform customers about the amount and purpose. Such unclear charges feel like a deceptive act towards customers.
First of all this location (Denver) attended Avis/Budget/Payless in the same building. The crowd waiting to rent was unbelievable. When we got there the line filled the inside of the building, went out of it and around.
They abuse the fact that you've been out in the sun, by the time you get to the counter you just want to get out, so they push everything on you. It took around 80-90 minutes from the time we got to budget to the time we got to the counter. And after that we waited for a further 30 while they "got the car ready". Finally we stormed in there asking for a car that was ready and they gave us our rental.
“Was almost unable to rent due to booking internationally”
About Budget:8.0/10
I was told that I would be unable to rent the car because I had made an international booking and didn't have a international drivers license. I have a US drivers license, even though I reside in England. This was extremely frustrating and almost resulted in me not being able to hire the car. Upon booking, I saw a list of acceptable IDs, which included a US drivers license. The manager sorted it out, luckily, and I was able to hire the car after all. But I had an extremely negative experience with the person at the counter and whatever policy she was referring to seemed totally absurd. Why would I need an international driver's license if I had a US one?!
