To drive in Croatia, the driver must present a valid driver's license that has been held for at least 2 years.
An International Driving Permit (IDP) is also required together with domestic driver’s license except for driver's licenses issued by the following countries: Austria, Bosnia, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Macedonia, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Please note that an International Driving Permit (often referred to as an International Driver's License) does not replace the requirement for a regular driver's license. And you must carry your current overseas driver’s license, IDP or translation with you all the time when driving in Croatia.
Tips
When renting in Croatia, customers with UK Driving Licenses issued in Great Britain (except Northern Ireland) will need to provide evidence of any driving endorsements. You can get and print the DVLA endorsement record in the DVLA* website
If you hold a Driver's License issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original license together with an authorized translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licenses are acceptable worldwide.
Age Requirement
Minimum age to rent a car in Croatia is 21 years (age may vary by car supplier and car category). If you're 18-24, you are likely to have to pay a young driver fee. If you're 65 or older, you may have to pay a senior driver fee.
*Attention! Some car rental companies would have different requirements. Please check Terms and Conditions during the booking process.
