Great service. The only thing I will mention, they gave us a 7 seater car with a small engine! Being inn Costa Rica where you are surrounded by mountains, going up hills was an effort. They tried to upsell another car to us.

Why are we always forced to buy additional insurance even when bringing and providing paperwork from Visa Avion, proving insurance coverage ? This is ALWAYS a problem in Costa Rica ….why ?? Please sort this out once and for all !!
Staff pushing hard on full insurance... Fortunately I speak Spanish and did my research on what I needed... Many tourists in neighboring counters took full insurance at $40USD a day. Good location though and shuttle was easy to find.
Wendy who was the staff member was excellent. She took me through the whole process of picking up the car and was very clear, her English was superb! She was kind enough to help me with directions through the Waze satnav app, which she set and explained.
The experience on our return was just as good and prompt. I can thoroughly recommend Jumbo hire.
Avis did not accept third party insurance in Costa Rica. The cost of their required insurance was not advertised anywhere, and doubled the cost of the rental car. Other agencies cost far less for their required insurance.

El auto está en condiciones demasiado malas, no debería alquilarse, asientos manchados, innumerables rayones, golpes, paneles plásticos dañados, además lo entregaron tan sucio que tuvimos nosotros que limpiarlo, aspirarlo y desinfectarlo
First of all, the counter clerk insisted I pay $3000US deposit on the vehicle because I declined the "zero liability" insurance option even after I confirmed the fact my Visa includes this as a card courtesy. This could potentially ruin someone's trip if they didn't have that kind of money to leave as a deposit.
Then, without my knowledge or say so, the vehicle booked was substituted for an inferior vehicle which lead to me blowing a tire while traveling to my rental property and then having to waste a day of my vacation (4+hour round trip) to return the vehicle and exchange it. Not to mention that the jack included in the vehicle was damaged and missing pieces making the tire change much more difficult than it should have been.
Overall, NOT a good experience with Budget!
10Wonderful, seamless experience with both Alamo and QEEQ
Couldn't have had a better experience with Alamo in our trip to Costa Rica. We had the car for the whole month of October, 2021. It all went flawlessly! We extended the initial reservation for extra 10 days and Alamo provided us with very reasonable and easy options to do so. Definitely recommend them!
The van was all manual. Each door had to be locked individually. windows were all manual. passenger seats were uncomfortable. I believe i paid for a an upgraded "luxury model". so the price was a little high for what i got.
9.3Never take the assurance at the booking with Easyrentcars / Payless
When we arrived at payless San Jose Costa Rica we hade to pay for another insurance even if we already took one at the booking. The reprensentant at Payless said that this insurance did not worth nothing. So for 3 week rental it cost us around 2700$ Can. We consider that it was a robbery. It starts the vacations very bad.
7EXTORTIVE insurance upsell with every Avis Rental
Danilo Jimenez REQUIRED me to buy the "minimum" AVIS additional insurance $275.90 for 9 days despite PROOF of FULL COVERAGE on the Easy Rent Cars voucher with Avis's name and reservation on it. When I resisted- Danilo Jimenez CANCELLED my booking and then announced where were no more cars for rent. Extortion pure.
7.3Ok car, lots of trunk room, very basic. AC but that is all, good on gas.
Counter staff was good but did the "soft" hard sell about 3rd party liability that they say is required in Costa Rica. Accepted right away that we had insurance for everything else from our CC.
On arrival the staff was very helpful in providing all the information required, from upgrades to legal information. There was no hidden surprises and when dropping off the car the staff made sure it was an easy process, which took minutes and made sure we were taken back to the airport with transportation provided. Excellent service!

Budget had the most transparent pickup process I have had in Costa Rica. Every other company I have used adds on extra insurance they say is required. The car was not ready when we went to pick up so they even delivered it to our house. Great experience.
Car received was fairly clean and spacious for 5 people and our luggage, however had many dents and scratches. Also the customer rep at the counter did not properly explain my insurance options and got me to buy the minimal coverage when I would have otherwise gone with no insurance and saved a lot. Otherwise a great renting experience. will rent again if in Costa Rica.

The van was perfect for the group of 10 to get us from the airport to the hotel and around the town of San Jose and the surrounding areas. The staff at Payless was very helpful and customer service was excellent.

Waited over an hour to collect the car, so they need more staff to deal with this. The drop off was very efficient though and staff member very efficient. We got a better car than booked, so that was nice.

When picking up the car, I wanted to clarify every charge to avoid unknown and unnecessary fees, and I asked the male customer service representative at the counter to speak slower as my English isn't very good. However, this arrogant gentleman clearly lacked the patience to do his job well or was experiencing a bad day, clearly showing impatience and even shouting that he had explained everything multiple times, which was very embarrassing. When we inspected the car's condition and pointed out minor scratches, he showed impatience again. As someone who's rented cars before, I understood that he could have just told me these minor issues didn't matter. Overall, this gentleman left a bad impression of the car rental company and the start of our trip, making us feel even discriminated against. This must be pointed out and deserves a poor rating.
I gave them 40 USD for gas, yet they still charged 76 USD to my credit card. This is fraud and cheating the customer!
I strongly advise against renting from GREEN MOTION due to their undisclosed fees and lack of transparency. The staff is dishonest; we paid cash for gas but were charged again on our credit card, which is fraudulent.

Q2. How can I add an addtional driver?
You are advised to make a request upon your arrival at the rental counter. Additional charge per day will incur unless '1 Additional Driver Included' is stipulated on the rental. Please note that the same licence and age requirement applys to the additonal driver. The addtional driver is supposed to present the required licence document along with the main driver at pickup.
Q3.What if I want to pick up or drop off my rental car out of office hours?
