The cars seem to be quite limited, it took nearly 2 hours before I could get one, forcing me to drive at night. But I got a free upgrade, which was good luck and worth mentioning. The quality inspector had a good attitude and was easy to communicate with.
The instructions were quite clear, and the pick-up and drop-off process was straightforward and quick. The 'overtime service fee' charged at pick-up was proactively refunded during drop-off, which deserves praise.
“Despite the short notice of my booking, the car rental experience per ce was amazing.”
About Europcar:8.3/10
The whole service from the car provider (Europecar in Luxor -Hurganda specifically-) was amazing and professional. No up sell of insurance was made and my pre-deposit authorization was released in just three days.
The staff kept asking for tips, which was very frustrating. Even after giving some, they complained it wasn’t enough and were very demanding. It was quite annoying, so I firmly refused.
Arrived at the site around 7, repeatedly urged them, but it wasn't until around 10 that they took us to inspect the car. The fuel gauge was broken, there were multiple scratches on the exterior, and the interior was messy. They claimed they had upgraded us. For safety reasons, we refused to accept the car. After several rounds of negotiations, they finally agreed to reassign a vehicle. By the time the new car arrived, it was already midnight. Exhausted from a long flight, we had to hastily check the car and drive to the hotel. The next day, we found the interior was extremely dirty, and the body was covered in scratches. This was the worst car rental experience I've ever had. From the staff's attitude to the quality of the vehicle.
I previously used Europcar in Turkey. Their service was excellent and it's a trusted big brand. When picking up the car, the staff carefully inspected the exterior and interior with me and made detailed records on the rental agreement.
The pick-up and drop-off process was generally alright, but during the return, I was told that the car I rented was involved in violations, leading to its registration being suspended for 6 months and a $400 fine. However, no specific time, place, or reason for the violations were provided, making it feel like extortion. I followed all the rules, got no tickets, and committed no violations. Please investigate thoroughly to avoid wrongful penalties.
