Thrifty Car Rental in Los Angeles, CA

The queue was quite long and the communication was quite vague, was not informed about a deposit until at the check in desk

I arrived at Thrifty around 9pm on Friday and didn't receive my vehicle until after 2 am Saturday morning. I had booked a pickup due to all the large luggage we would be returning with but received a Ford Explorer instead. I will have to return to California to pickup more luggage we had to leave behind as a result of not getting the pickup we had booked. The staff did not provide any details on why it took so long other than to tell us they were operating with a skeleton crew. On a busy Friday night??!! Further when we called to ask if we could swap out the Ford Explorer we were told there was one in Santa Barbara, 60 miles from our location but as it turned out, that Thrifty location no longer existed.

The car was not ready when we arrived and we had to wait about half an hour, this is not good with a timed booking pick up.

Pick up was horrible with a 1.5 hour wait. Drop off was just the opposite with nearly no wait, including the convenient shuttle bus.

Took forever to get my car at LAX. Had to change vehicles a few days into the rental, at which point LAX changed my return time in SF. But when I arrived on schedule to drop off in downtown SF, the office was closed. Apparently LAX didnt know the closing time in SF. Had to go back to SF office 7am the next morning, but Thrifty charged me an extra day and a late fee - $91.33. I followed their instructions and they charge ME money for a THIRFTY MISTAKE. I am still trying to get my refund. Will never use Thrifty again.

The waiting time was very long, and I was double-charged despite having already paid a partial fee on the rental platform.

Very good overall, smooth experience. They only tried to upsell the highway ETC, which I didn't rent. However, there were few staff members so I queued for over half an hour. Americans work quite slowly.

The queue was too long. Other rental companies had no customers, but there was still a long line here, and it was very slow.

First, they insisted I buy insurance, but my order indicated I didn’t need it, which annoyed the staff. I declined the refuel option and they refused to give me a receipt, saying it was fine. In the end, I returned the car with a full tank, and they still charged me $52 for FPO. That's outrageous!

Overall it's okay, the only drawback is the long waiting time.
