Driver's License in Argentina

If your driver’s license is not in English or doesn’t have a stamped photograph, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required. Please note that the IDP is only a translation and you must bring your original driver’s license with you.

 

For driver's licenses from countries not part of the international driving license treaty, an official translation of the license in English must be presented with the original driver's license.

 

Most car rental companies require the license to be held for at least 2 years with no major endorsements.

Si bien se suponía que era un Golf o similar, en el lugar nos dijeron que no contaban con ese modelo en el local, por lo que nos entregaron un sedán, ni similar al tipo de vehículo reservado que correspondía a un hatchback, tampoco nos dieron alguna solución y eso que tenían otros vehículos similares en el local, pero solo se limitaron a entregarnos uno completamente distinto a lo reservado, además no respetaron el precio y nos cobraron más sin ninguna explicación.

10Road Trip from Calafate to El Chaltén

There was a queue for car pick-up, about 20 minutes; compared to other rental companies, the queue was quite long, which also speaks to the reputation and strength of Hertz. The staff were patient and attentive. My English is not very good, but she was able to slowly repeat the key points, write them down as she spoke, and didn't try to upsell any additional insurance. I was very satisfied. The pick-up process was straightforward and smooth. The drop-off process was even simpler, just handing over the keys at the parking lot. The staff asked if everything was fine and I replied that it was great with no issues. The drop-off process took only two minutes. Wonderful!

The staff was very friendly and patient. However, I booked the car for airport pickup and drop-off on the app, but the paperwork at the store indicated it was a car dispatched from the city center, requiring an additional $50 service fee. After contacting QEEQ customer service, they said they would verify the charge. I didn't have time to wait, so I paid the fee and drove off. QEEQ customer service continued to follow up, and a few days later, I received an email stating the fee should not have been charged and that they would coordinate with the rental company for a refund. It has been over ten days now, and I'm still waiting for the refund. The actual process of picking up and dropping off the car was very convenient and quick.

Excellent customer service from Europcar Aeroparque Buenos Aires. We had to replace a broken windscreen, and Europcar both there and in Mendoza were most helpful. Because of Coronavirus we had to return the car early, at 10 am on 17 March, so we could leave Argentina that day. We returned the car to the parking lot at the airport following instructions from local staff.

4.3Horrible scam from Europcar.

Tried to scam us by saying they could not put a hold for damages ($6000)on the credit card. We called our bank on the spot and they said no one had tried to even attempt a hold. Europcar said we could either pay for daily insurance (more than the cost of the entire rental) or could not have the car. we ended up charging the $6000 to the credit card instead of placing a hold. They said they would refund it but couldn’t tell us when. The guys working the counter wouldn’t let other customers go in front of us while we were on hold with the back. I assume this tactic is used to make people uncomfortable and give in and pay the daily insurance. but as soon as the bank answered the guys working wanted us to step aside so they could help other customers. At check out they tried to tell us that we used the spare tire and put a flat tire in its place in the trunk which is 100% false.

Car had 59,000km and showed its wear. It didn't look great, but ran just fine and was economical on fuel. Staff was helpful and marked all scrapes and dents on the outgoing and incoming car condition sheets. Very good experience.

After picking up the car and driving, I noticed a strange noise from the engine. I immediately reported it to the rental company. However, as they didn't have a replacement car, they could only arrange a car from another rental company the next day. I was forced to make two round trips of several dozen kilometers to exchange the car, incurring time and fuel loss. The car hadn't been in any collisions, so the noise was clearly due to poor maintenance or lack of service quality on their part. Instead of addressing these issues, they were more interested in making money and forcefully charged me. I request Zuzuche to investigate this matter.

We have to wait for more than 30 minutes for the Europcar guy who came to the office 35 minutes late (evidently hungover) without any excuse (we have car drop-off at 8:00 and the office should by open from 8:00). It was impossible to reach him and even using the “emergency number” of the Europcar we were give (I’m just wondering what you would do if something happens).

In BRC, no counter for rentacar. No big deal in pickup, guy waits with sign as you exit the baggage claim area. But would be nice if it was clear in the documents sent prior... Drop off a bit more complicated since same thing, but where to find the guy? Ok if you have phone sms or Whatsapp set up, but make sure you allow for time... One complaint: had to pay the airport parking when exiting (pickup). Small fee but never happened to me in my life that I have to pay for the rental car company the airport parking..

We rented from the Newberry airport in Buenos Aires and also from El Calafate - in both cases using Europcar. The counter staff at both places were absolutely wonderful! They provided detailed explanations, took care of all the paper work very professionaly, and were very friendly and service oriented. I would highly recommend them.

7.7Not what I expected due to car overbooking by Europcar and mishandling my reservation.

After booking with EasyRentCars I contacted local Europcar directly to make sure the car would fullfill my expectations and to guarantee a ski rack. They promised me a Nissan Versa with a Ski Rack which they promised would suit my needs. I even call them again 2 weeks before my trip to verify everything was in order. To my total surprise, I received at the airport a tiny Nissan March with no Ski Rack....Only after a full complain they offered me the Nissan Versa with Ski Rack but only 3 days after the inception of my rental. It was extremely tough to fit my family and luggage, let alone the skis....Terrible experience on all honesty. I needed to put two of my girls on a private transfer to the mountain for the first 3 days until my car was upgraded....

Pickup was a big problem that only got worse when we tried to contact customer service. No one answered the phone. Fortunately our message was returned several hours later and the car was ultimately dropped off at our apartment. They need to have more reliable contact information. The drop off however was extremely smooth.

Very small car (Nissan March, kind of a Micra) when booking a Compact. Quite windy on the roads so didn't really feel safe in this small car. Goode service overall. One flat tyre to be changed they didn't charge me for so happy with that.

4El Calafate to Perito Moreno Glacier and El Chalten

Couldn't use Visa when picking up the car. A foreigner had the same issue and got so mad that they threw things. You can use cards to buy things at the airport, but not at the rental company. I contacted my credit card company, and there was no issue with my card. I asked Herz what to do, and their answer was that they didn't know. After more than an hour of delay and after repeatedly insisting, they tried again, and it finally worked. When returning the car, I noticed the rental company had a new card machine, but they refused to admit their old machine had issues!

Q1.What is an insurance excess?

The excess is the amount you'll only be liable for in case of damage(under Collision Damage Waiver) or theft(under Theft Protection) of the vehicle.
Information about the excess will be clearly stated in the price inclusion when you reserve a car on QEEQ.

Q2. How can I add an addtional driver?

You are advised to make a request upon your arrival at the rental counter. Additional charge per day will incur unless '1 Additional Driver Included' is stipulated on the rental.
Please note that the same licence and age requirement applys to the additonal driver. The addtional driver is supposed to present the required licence document along with the main driver at pickup.

Q3.What if I want to pick up or drop off my rental car out of office hours?

QEEQ will show you the car offers available at your chosen time on the search results.
However, pick-up or drop-off out of general opening hours may subject to an extra fee unless self-service pick-up or drop-off is available.
After you reserve a car on QEEQ, we will inform you of specific policy of the car hire company by email.

Q4. Can I take the hired car to another country or cross border?

If you want to pick up your car in one country and drop it in another, your search results will show you cars you can do that with.
If you're planning to cross any borders during your trip, bear in mind:
1. You may have to pay more.
There are often extra fees, taxes or additional cover you'll pay at the car hire counter.
2.It may not be allowed.
Depending on where you're hiring, you may not be able to take your car to another country.

Q5. Can I pick up my car at one location and return it at different location?

Yes. You can pick up the vehicle in one place and drop it off in another. An ‘one-way fee’ will incur. Whether it is inclued in the rental price or what additional cost may arise will be clearly stated at the time of booking on QEEQ.
Please inform the car hire company of your drop-off location when you pick up the vehicle or contact them directly during your trip. You will find a phone number on the rental agreement you signed at pickup.
